Ex-Ford Wisadkosin helms Hyundai Motor ASEAN

MANILA: Yukontorn Wisadkosin (nicknamed Vickie) has been appointed as Hyundai Motor’s president for the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region.

Effective as of yesterday (March 2), the new regional leader will lead the brand’s integrated operations across Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Vietnam. She will report directly to Don Romano, who is also new to his post as President of Hyundai Motor Asia Pacific (HMAP).

Per Hyundai, Wisadkosin’s role is to “translate Asia Pacific Headquarters’ strategy into coordinated regional action, driving strategic integration, strengthening regional alignment, and supporting sustainable, long-term growth across ASEAN.”

An ASEAN expert with deep practical insight and extensive experience, the newly-assigned leader for the region brings more than 20 years of senior leadership across the automotive and consumer sectors.

Prior to her latest position with the Korean automotive marque, Wisadkosin was Ford’s president for ASEAN Markets and Asia Pacific Distributor Markets. There, she spearheaded the Blue Oval's expansion and delivered sustained growth across highly competitive markets in the region.

“Vickie’s regional expertise, leadership capability, and deep understanding of ASEAN markets make her exceptionally well-suited to lead Hyundai’s next phase of growth in the region,” Romano said.

“Her appointment also reflects our commitment to strengthening global female leadership within Hyundai.”

For her part, Wisadkosin expressed gratitude for the role that Hyundai entrusted her with.

“I am honored to join Hyundai Motor Asia Pacific and excited to work with teams across ASEAN. Together, we will build stronger regional alignment, accelerate transformation, and deliver long-term value for our customers and partners.”

In a statement, HMAP expressed belief that the appointment reinforces its commitment to building a more integrated, agile, and future-ready ASEAN organization, positioning Hyundai for sustainable growth and long-term competitiveness in the region.
