MANILA: Hyundai Motor Philippines Incorporated (HMPH) has formally turned over two Elantra vehicles to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

In a statement, the Korean automaker’s arm in the country said that the initiative reaffirmed its support for the PNP in its thrust to enhance public safety and national security.

Designed to secure safety and efficient operations of police personnel, the pair of Hyundai Elantra units released to are equipped with Elantra Hybrid Smart Patrol Car features made up of:

- Radar-based speed detection
- Intelligent plate recognition system
HMPH also stated that the technologies align with Hyundai’s global vision of “Progress for Humanity,” demonstrating the brand’s dedication to meaningful contributions to peace and order nationwide.

On the other hand, the model’s HEV option has a hybrid mill composed of a 1.6-liter gasoline engine and electric motor paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. This combination produces a peak output of 142 horsepower and 147 Nm.
The base model variant rides on 15-inch alloys wrapped in 195/65 tires while the electrified version uses 16-inch wheels with bigger 205/55 tires.
Both cars are fitted with eight-inch touchscreen infotainment systems (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay-ready) and digital instrument clusters (either 4.2- or 10.25-inch).
