LTO Issues License Plate to First Registered Vintage Vehicle in PH

MANILA: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has released the license plate of the first vintage vehicle registered since the implementation of Republic Act 11698 or the Vintage Vehicle Regulation Act.

LTO Chief Jose Arturo “Jay Art” Tugade led the handover ceremony of the license plate for the first registered vintage vehicle at the LTO Central Office in Quezon City.

The vintage vehicle, according to Tugade, met the minimum requirements to be registered, guaranteeing its roadworthiness.

Tugade emphasized that the appreciation of vintage vehicles is also an enrichment of the automotive history in the Philippines.

“With the passage of the Vintage Vehicle Regulation Act, the LTO aims to register roadworthy vintage vehicles while also encouraging owners to take greater responsibility for maintaining their vehicles in order to preserve their historical value,” Tugade stated.

As defined by Republic Act 11698, a vintage vehicle is a land vehicle that is at least 40 years old from the date of manufacture, is powered by an engine that uses internal combustion, electricity, a combination of the two, or other means, and has the original engine, chassis, steering assembly, and suspension assembly.

Furthermore, it is important that the vehicle's body has not undergone any major modification in its overall appearance.
