Mercedes-Benz launches in-car acoustic travel guide service in Germany

MANILA: Mercedes-Benz has upgraded the MBUX Voice Assistant with the new “Tourguide” acoustic travel guide.

When activated, Tourguide reads out information about attractions along the route on German autobahns, making traveling more informative and entertaining.

This new Mercedes me service is available in the EQS, EQE, C-Class, S-Class, AMG SL, and in the new GLC and the new EQS SUV.

Tourguide is now available in Germany but will later be rolled out in other countries as well. It responds to the approximately 3,400 brown-colored tourist information signs along German autobahns. The content was made exclusively for Mercedes-Benz Group AG.

The audio guide responses to the voice command “Hey Mercedes, start Tourguide.” It automatically starts when the vehicle passes by the first sign. If the driver takes a break or departs the autobahn, the system automatically switches off after 90 minutes. The driver can also deactivate the service any time by voice command or touch.

Tourguide also comes with an automatic route guidance feature. If the insights regarding the points of interest encourage users to pay it a visit, the driver can simply select the navigation function and the system will automatically provide the directions without having to input the names of streets or towns.
