Mercedes-Benz EQA

The Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 on sale in the Philippines car market comes with the Electric Art trim level as standard. This trim level features ARTICO leather upholstery with Cupertino fabric trims and dual-tone rose gold and titanium pearl inserts. The cabin of the EQA feels highly luxurious, and top-quality soft-touch elements on the dashboard and door panels and ambient lighting only enhance this experience. 

Behind the multi-functional, leather-wrapped steering wheel with haptic touch buttons, a wide, full-TFT rectangular cockpit is placed. This full-TFT cockpit comprises 10.25-inch screens for the instrument console and a touchscreen infotainment system. The cabin only looks better with turbine-styled AC vents in the centre console and dashboard corners with a rose gold finish and gloss black surrounds.

The cabin is decently equipped with premium features like powered front seats with memory package, comfortable rear seats with armrests, automatic climate control, backlit Illuminated door sills, rear AC vents, wireless charger, 10-speaker audio system, and some more. However, given its premium positioning, more features would have made this cabin even more desirable. 

While the Mercedes-Benz EQA is based on the GLA-Class, which is evident in the overall design language and silhouette, the former has its own set of characteristic design elements that make it look as distinctive as its electric counterpart.

The front profile of the Mercedes-Benz EQA looks heavily tweaked with the black panel radiator grille, which has a closed design with a gloss black finish. This closed grille has a large tri-star Mercedes-Benz logo surrounded by a chrome-finish panel. It also has a daytime running LED light bar across its upper edge and between the headlamps. Featuring full-LED treatment, including the LED DRLs, the headlamps of the EQA have a wide look stretching towards the outer edges. 

The slanted bonnet of the Mercedes-Benz EQA has power domes over it, while the compact luxury electric SUV has a nice stance with its 19-inch machined alloy wheels with Electric Art Design. The side body cladding, with chrome finish over the door claddings, and slim silver roof rails complete the side profile. At the back, the EQA looks different from the GLA with an entirely different-looking tail lamp assembly, which has LED combination tail lamps with curved and enlarged outer extensions and a unique LED connecting light bar between them.

With comfort suspension setup offered as standard, the Mercedes-Benz EQA feels plush and comfortable to be driven in, with the compact luxury electric SUV also having the option of adaptive suspension for better composure in driving dynamics. There are four driving modes in the EQS – Eco, Comfort, Sport and Individual, with the last one offering complete freedom to the driver to adjust the steering and suspension settings as per his driving preferences. 

The Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 Electric Art variant on sale in the Philippines has a front-mounted electric motor, which is paired with a single-speed transmission and churns out 190 bhp of maximum power and 385 Nm of maximum torque. This electric motor propels the Mercedes-Benz EQA to a top speed of 160 kmph and does the 0-100 kmph sprint in 8.6 seconds. The 66.5kWh battery of the Mercedes-Benz EQA, which is compatible with up to 100kW DC fast charging, delivers a maximum range of WLTP-certified 495 km. 

The safety features that are offered in the Mercedes-Benz EQA as standard are ABS with EBD and brake assist, active speed limit assist, active steering assist, evasive steering assist, active lane keeping assist, active blind spot assist, electric parking brake, adaptive brake lights, seven airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors and 360-degree parking camera.

While the Mercedes-Benz EQA looks more like a lifted hatchback and not a traditional SUV, this stylish-looking modern electric crossover is as rich in premium appeal and luxury as the GLA-Class on which it is based.
