Omoda, Jaecoo highlight youth-oriented features of select models

MANILA: For International Youth Day, twin Chinese marques Omoda and Jaecoo highlighted the youth-oriented features of the Jaecoo J7, as well as the Omoda 4 and 7.

Per the automotive manufacturers, the younger generation of car buyers now look beyond specifications and performance and seek intelligent technology, personalization, sustainability, connectivity, and the ability of a vehicle to complement different lifestyles. 

As such, Omoda and Jaecoo respond to the evolving expectations of today’s buyers through a strategy built around driving quality, intelligent technology, electrification, and lifestyle-
oriented mobility.

“From efficient hybrid powertrains and intelligent cockpit technologies to battery-electric vehicles, the brand continues to develop solutions designed for diverse mobility scenarios and the expectations of a new generation of consumers,” Omoda and Jaecoo wrote in a press release.

SHS 

Omoda and Jaecoo’s Super Hybrid System (SHS) is marketed to young consumers who balance urban commutes, weekend trips, and more adventurous undertakings.

In the Philippines, the Jaecoo J7 SHS pairs a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor to deliver as much as 275 horsepower and 365 Newton-meters to the front wheels. It has a combined range of 1,488 kilometers (km) with a full tank of gasoline.

The Jaecoo 7 SHS-P — a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) version of the electrified system — achieved a combined range of 828 miles (mi) or approximately 1,333 km in a closed-track test conducted at the UTAC Millbrook Proving Ground in the United Kingdom. 

According to Omoda and Jaecoo, the plug-in crossover sport utility vehicle (SUV) exceeded its Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) rating by 11.14 percent. Likewise, the Omoda 7 SHS-P achieved a range of 770 mi or 1,239 km, surpassing its WLTP figure by 10 percent.

“These results highlight the potential of hybrid technology to provide the combination of efficiency, range, and versatility sought by consumers with active and diverse lifestyles,” Omoda and Jaecoo noted.

Beyond the actual powertrain system, Omoda and Jaecoo associated the spirit of exploration with the multi-scenario capabilities of hybrid mobility (as well as creating a communication platform that speaks to younger audiences) by launching a global cross-industry collaboration with the mythological epic film The Odyssey.

Intelligent cabin 

Omoda and Jaecoo believe that the new generation of car buyers prefer the cabin of their vehicles to be intuitive, personalized, and relevant to their daily lives.

Taking this space is the Omoda 4, which made its Southeast Asian debut in Indonesia not too long ago. 

Designed with a distinctive “cyber mecha” theme, its cockpit is technology-focused and is equipped with artificial intelligence. Per the carmakers, the system enables natural voice interaction and personalized experiences, moving beyond conventional command-based interaction toward more scenario-based intelligent services.
