Porsche Formula E team changes name, aims for triple championship

MANILA: The Porsche Formula E Team has changed its official name to reflect its deeper relationship with its partner, Swiss luxury watch manufacturer TAG Heuer

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is the new name of Porsche’s Formula E Team?

It is now called the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team.
  • What is the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team aiming to do in future seasons?

The TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team is aiming to win the all-electric racing series’ driver’s, manufacturer’s, and team championships.
  • In subsequent seasons of the all-electric racing championship, the German marque’s factory team will now be known as the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team. The name change also signals the German carmaker’s intention of becoming the first team to win all three Formula E world championship titles: the constructors, driver's, and team championship titles.

“Merci, TAG Heuer! After six seasons together in Formula E, Porsche is at the forefront of electric motorsport. Such success is only possible with partners who share the same values. In our case, these are primarily a passion for motorsport and technical innovation,” Porsche Motorsport Vice President Thomas Laudenbach said.

“What makes our partnership in Formula E special, however, is that both brands are characterized by a predominantly mechanical tradition, yet we have prevailed in arguably the most digital racing series in the world,” Laudenbach added.

    Other stories:

Interestingly, the 2025 Formula E season saw the Porsche team attain the Team and Manufacturer’s Championship titles.

The said team has already won a total of 13 races since 2019. As such, a triple Formula E championship win, Porsche Motorsport says, is the next logical step. The watch manufacturer, meanwhile, intends to showcase its first-ever smartwatch through motorsports - a huge milestone for the brand, which has focused on mechanical watches since its founding in 1860.

    • Mobil 1
    • Loctite
    • Puma
    • NetApp and Cato Networks
    • Synopsys
    • TDK Corporation
