Electrified SUV comes in 2 trims, 1 more to be added soon

Porsche Macan Electric enters PH market

MANILA: Porsche has recently introduced the all-electric Macan to the Philippine market.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are the two newly-unveiled trims in the Philippines under the new Porsche Macan Electric?

The Porsche Macan Electric is currently offered in Turbo and 4 variants.
  • What Porsche Macan Electric trim will be offered soon?

The Porsche Macan Electric trim in the Philippines will soon have a rear-wheel-drive option.
  • Porsche Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Roberto Coyiuto III said that launching of the new all-electric Macan allowed them to expand their fully-electric lineup under the Stuttgart-headquartered automaker’s stable.

“This charges up our range of offerings and gives discerning consumers a complete array of powertrain options to choose from — fully electric, hybrid, or combustion engine,” Coyiuto added.

Unveiled during the Enrique Zobel Memorial Polo Cup over the weekend were the Porsche Macan Turbo (model’s top-tier option) and the Macan 4 (mid-level trim).

Here are some bits of information about the new-launched model.

    Powertrain

Both variations of the new Porsche Macan Electric are equipped with two Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors that send power to the front and rear axles. These variants can dish out the following figures:

    Model/Variant

    Porsche Macan Turbo

    Porsche Macan 4

    Maximum power (in horsepower)

    639

    408

    Peak torque (in Newton-meters)

    1,130

    650

0-100 kilometer per hour (in seconds)

    3.3

    5.2

The two variants are fitted with batteries that allow them to cover more than 591-613 kilometers (depending on the trim).

Porsche Philippines mentioned that the two Macan trims will be joined by a rear-wheel-drive option at a later date. This version can give up to 360 hp and 563 Nm and the range as far as 641 kms (based on Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure standards).

    Exterior

The new all-electric Porsche Macan wears familiar features that shows its Porsche DNA as seen in the crisp lines and distinct proportions but further developed to meet the requirements of an electric vehicle.

It features short overhangs, a longer wheelbase, a sloping hood, and beefy fenders that complements the low flyline, raked coupe-like window silhouette, frameless doors, and the side blades.

The new all-electric Porsche Macan wears a two-part headlamps at the front and a sculptural three-dimensional taillight strip (with the brand logo sitting in the middle) for the rear.

The model’s crème dela crème version boasts additional design and sporty elements such as:

    • Matrix LED headlights
    • Porsche crest and trim in Turbonite
    • Adaptive sport seats
    • 22-inch wheels

To note, the new all-electric Porsche Macan has the following dimensions:

Length x width, height (in millimeters [mm>)

    4,784 x 1,938 x 1,621-1,623

    Wheelbase (in mm)

    2,893

    Interior

The new all-electric Porsche Macan greets its occupants with a cockpit that has an integrated black panel, which holds three screen displays (12.6-inch curved, a 10.9-inch center console, and a 10.9-inch passenger screen).

Aside from that, the vehicle has ambient illumination with a communication light feature, a welcome animation, a new Themes app that adjusts the background color of the displays and the Porsche Communication Management that computes vehicle performance.

The new all-electric Porsche Macan’s seating configuration of the driver and its passengers are lower than the previous model — with the rear portion allotted with more legroom. Its center console’s sloping shape increases the impression of a low and performance-focused seating position while its huge window openings result in a bigger cabin feel.

Meanwhile, electrification of the new Macan provided more advantages in terms of carrying space as the vehicle can haul up to 1,348 liters (rear seat folded). Aside from that, its front trunk can carry an additional 84 liters worth of cargo.

    Technologies

Porsche would not be a Porsche if not for its sports car feel and the new all-electric Macan is no exception.

Aside from the seating position, low center of gravity, and precise steering, the SUV is outfitted with numerous performance-related technologies:

    • Electronic Porsche Traction Management system, which operates about five times faster than a conventional all-wheel drive system, and can respond to wheel slip within 10 milliseconds.
    • Porsche Active Suspension Management system that has two-valve shock absorbers and adaptive air suspension with leveling and height adjustment functions
