Radar EV debuts in PH under UAAGI

MANILA: Radar EV has now officially entered the Philippine market under the stewardship of the United Asia Automotive Group, Incorporated (UAAGI), which serves as the official distributor of the brand’s electrified pickup trucks in the country. 

The brand under the Geely Auto Group specializes in mid‑size electric and plug‑in hybrid pickups. Globally, it has made a name for itself for manufacturing electrified powertrains and producing vehicles with “sturdy build quality,” “modern tech,” and safety features. 

“With the launch of Radar, UAAGI not only diversifies its vehicle lineup but also contributes to the expansion of the new energy vehicle (NEV) market across the archipelago. We at UAAGI remain committed to meeting the evolving demands of Filipino motorists. And with the introduction of Radar, our goal is to lead the charge in this growing segment,” UAAGI Chairman Rommel Sytin was quoted saying. 

As the brand works to introduce itself to Filipino car buyers, it touts its products as “Built Electric. Built Solid.” Speaking of which, below are the company’s initial offerings. 

Radar RD6 ECON 

The Radar RD6 ECON is a battery-electric pickup truck with dual motors. At the front wheel axle, the vehicle produces 134 horsepower (hp) while the rear wheels dish out 241 horses for a total of 375 hp. Torque-wise, the dual-motor setup is able to put out some 485 Newton-meters (Nm) of pulling power. 

It also offers the following capacities: 

Minimum turning radius (in millimeters [mm>)	6.1
Water wading capacity (in mm)	815
Truck bed size (in mm)	1,765

Other notable features include:

• One-ton cargo capacity 
• Up to 443-kilometer (km) range

Revealed during the official brand launch, the Radar RD6 ECON variants have the following starting prices: 

Radar RD6 ECON 4x2	P1.358 million

Radar RD6 EM-P

On the other hand, the Radar RD6 EM-P is a hybrid pickup truck that packs a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with an advanced dual-motor system. At the fore, it makes 215 hp and the rear wheels do about 241 hp for a combined output of 456 hp. 

When it comes to torque, the powertrain puts down 659 Nm. 

It impresses with a 1,000 km cruising range, although it is limited to about 82 km when in full electric mode. Standout features include: 

• All-wheel drivetrain with off-road modes
• 14.6-inch high-definition infotainment display 
• Power outlets at cargo bed 
• Panoramic sunroof
