Renault Kaptur Ready For Its Russian Campaign

MANILA: After Napoleon’s failed attempt to conquer Russia, the French are at it yet again with the new Renault Kaptur that recently made its debut with significantly buffed up exteriors. The new Kaptur is essentially a larger sized Renault Captur, that has been modified for its use in Russia. But size isn’t the only thing that is different about the new vehicle as it will be produced in Renault’s Moscow facility to ensure that the product is 100% Russian. The production of the Kaptur SUV will start by the third quarter and will also be exported to various regions such as Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan etc.

Russian terrain and the harsh winter have rightfully earned their notoriety with some notable examples in history, and Renault Motor’s decision to overhaul the Captur’s size is certainly a smart one and largely follows the same footsteps as their Alaska Concept Pickup. The latest Kaptur stands 46 mm taller than the regular model with added length of 211 mm and 68 mm longer wheelbase. The width of the vehicle is also 1813 mm making it 35 mm wider than the Captur. The added ground clearance was done to make the vehicle more versatile on the relentless Russian terrain. The exteriors too have earned a minor facelift with longer sized rear doors and an extended window panel. The face is now presented with a chrome garnished, C-shaped housing for the LED driving lights. The same C-shape aesthetic is carried over to the taillights that look totally stunning against the burly exteriors.

The enlarged size also improves the vehicle’s boot space that can now carry upto 387 litres of luggage. One can always fold the rear seats for an enormous capacity of 1200-litres, which is enough to fit in a Siberian Tiger or a Eurasian Brown Bear. The engine remains the same and is supplied with both manual and automatic transmission along with a choice between 16-inch and 17-inch alloys. The interiors of the Renault Kaptur however, are more or less the same as the smaller sized cousin and has heated seats and windshield for maximum interior comfort even amidst the most frigid of Siberian winds. Only if Hitler drove a Renault in his Russian expedition, the world would definitely be a different place today.
