Report: Chery luxury brand Omoda coming to PH this year

MANILA: The Omoda 5 crossover is reportedly about to be released in the Philippines. Although the Omoda brand is a part of the Chery Group, the two brands will not work together to deliver vehicles in the Philippines; instead, the Omoda brand will operate independently.

The Omoda 5 will be a brand-new entry into the country's compact crossover market when it debuts in the fourth quarter of 2023. It will feature an entirely new design that draws inspiration from the Art in Motion design language, an entirely new powertrain, and entirely new and better safety standards and technology.

When it comes to design, the Omoda 5 offers a lot. The car adopts many contemporary lines, with smoothness serving as the primary design element. By 2023, the Omoda 5 will probably be ready to pique the interest of many discerning car customers with just its alluring look.

Omoda 5 Exterior

The Omoda 5's design was improved in a number of ways. The car's grille, lights, and other body accents blend seamlessly with its overall shape. The grille doesn't have a frame like on current versions and fits flat with the front bumper. Fastback-style lines can be seen in the rear area, and accent colors used on the mirrors, bumpers, skirts, and even the wheels give the body slight sportiness throughout. On the Omoda 5, remote engine start will also be a consideration.

Omoda 5 Powertrain

About the Omoda 5’s powertrain, anticipate the launch of a 1.5-liter turbo engine in this design. In compared to the rest of its competitors, the Omoda 5 appears to be a highly promising performer with 144 horsepower available and a maximum torque number of 230 Nm. The T1X chassis, on which the vehicle is mounted, offers room, lengthy drive capability, generous ground clearance, and usable approach and departure angles.

The 5 will reportedly also be made in a battery-electric vehicle form, according to sources. It is currently unclear whether or not that model will be introduced later in 2023. But given how slowly the Philippines is developing its electric infrastructure, it is not improbable that the company is thinking about the possibility of allowing electric vehicles to populate its range at some point in the near future.
