Shell PH targets to open up to 80 mobility stations a year

MANILA: Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation has announced that it is targeting to open 60 to 80 mobility stations per year to provide better service to more Filipinos. The company aims to level up the customer experience for every motorist by offering a wider range of products and providing community spaces and sustainable innovations through its growing network of mobility stations.

Shell Vice President and General Manager for Mobility Randy Del Valle considers the company’s shift from fuel retail to mobility station as part of its commitment to cater to Filipinos' varying needs on the road.

In a statement, Del Valle said, “Mobility is for everyone. Shell is here to keep you safe on the road and make any journey meaningful. The way to keep the Philippines moving forward is to translate trends and customer needs into services that are fit for your specific needs, accessible, and readily available all in one destination while being the country’s sustainability partner.”

One of the recently opened mobility stations is the Shell Acienda Silang site in Cavite, which is called the first “Site of the Future” in the Philippines. Its open modern design provides an improved customer experience. The station features an inviting shop front and an al fresco dining area where customers can enjoy fresh air. It also comes with a parking area to let the customers know that “Shell does not just want you to stop, because Shell also invites you to stay.”

The site also comes with an integrated air-conditioned lounge with internet access where customers can hang out or even work while waiting for their vehicles to be serviced.

With the growing number of cycling communities in the country, Shell has incorporated specialized biker areas and a bike utility service at the Shell Acienda Silang site to promote cycling not just for sport and leisure, but also as a form of transportation.

Shell mobility stations also offers non-fuel retail (NFR) products through Shell Select and Deli2Go. The company has also partnered with popular local food brands like Chatime, Turk’s, and Potato Corner to satisfy customers’ food cravings at the mobility stations. The mobility stations also aim to help community entrepreneurs by selling their products through the Department of Industry’s One Town One Product (OTOP) and Go Lokal! programs.

TouchPay kiosks are also installed at Shell mobility stations to allow customers to pay bills and top up RFID, GCash, and Paymaya wallets with just a tap of a finger. Shell has also launched the Shell Go+ app that lets users earn points with any purchase at Shell, get discounts and rewards from partner brands and stores, and avail of free roadside assistance.

Customers staying at home can also order foods and other essentials from Shell Select and partner stores through food delivery services like Grab and Foodpanda.

Shell mobility stations also provide customers with a sustainable living experience through a range of sustainable innovations and choices. Solar panels are installed on the roofing of canopies and stores, which can power up to 30% of the station’s operations. All new mobility stations are also equipped with rain catchers to recycle rainwater for non-potable use. Shell Mango in Cebu has maximized this feature for its self-irrigating plant wall.

Shell mobility stations also use LED and inverter technology for lighting and cooling systems, as well as eco-bricks made from upcycled plastics for the construction of walls at Shell Select and firewalls. Shell Plaridel in Bulacan features a commercial building made of eco-bricks manufactured from 1,200 kg of plastic waste, which is equivalent to 80,000 lubricant bottles.

Meanwhile, Shell Marilao is the first mobility station to use Shell Bitumen FreshAir during the layout of its pavements. Shell Bitumen FreshAir helped lessen the nitrogen oxide emissions during the construction of the site. Its environmental impact is equivalent to planting 16 trees and eliminating nitrogen oxide emissions of 40 cars per kilometer laid.

To ensure the safety of every motorist, Shell stations also offer basic vehicle checks conducted by forecourt service champions and use high-performance fuels and lubricants. The Signature Shell Helix Oilchange+ Vehicle Checks are done by highly-trained staff including expert mechanics from the Don Bosco Technological Institute. Aside from oil changes, this program also includes maintenance checks, tune-ups, transmission works, and mechanical repairs. Shell also employs modern tools for its signature 14-point check to avoid human error while ensuring accurate vehicle health assessment in less than 10 minutes.

Shell Helix Oilchange+ services are available in over 400 locations nationwide. The newly opened Shell C5 Southlink is the 400th site, making vehicle servicing highly accessible to motorists in the metro.

“At Shell, everyone is treated like a guest. It will be the ‘third place’ to be when you leave home, school, or work to create a community,” Del Valle added.

In the coming months, Shell is set to host the “Future Festival,” a series of public virtual conferences led by industry leaders and the nation’s stakeholders who will discuss best practices in mobility; energy; STEM, Arts, and Youth; and livelihood.
