Shell to help Flash Express lower carbon emissions

MANILA: Shell, through its special fleet division Shell Fleet Solutions, will help Flash Express lower its carbon emissions.

The country’s up-and-coming logistics company decided to use the Shell Fleet Solutions Application Programming Interfaces to gather data on its fleet’s carbon footprint and move decisively towards lowering the total emissions of its delivery vehicles.

Some of the benefits Flash Express can get from joining Shell’s Accelerate to Zero program include a closer look at the company’s data, actionable insights into how to move towards eventual decarbonization, and a suite of solutions for the firm’s transport units.

“What happens next will be hopefully the utilization of other offers under the umbrella of our Accelerate to Zero program. We already have the carbon offset program, and telematics system is underway. So hopefully all these will help accelerate Flash Express in reaching its goals to fully decarbonize,” Shell Fleet Solutions Country Business Manager Christopher Alli said.

“It is precisely for operators of fleets of vehicles, from motorcycles to vans to trucks, that feel it is the right time to adopt more sustainable practices, that Shell Fleet Solutions’ Accelerate to Zero program was created,” he added.

In a press release, Shell noted that motorcycles — which are used typically by delivery companies in the Philippines — contribute to the growing carbon footprint of the logistics market in the country.

Motorcycle delivery riders usually make several trips per day covering various distances across the city. Further understanding data on their emissions will help Flash Express better care for the environment and reach its sustainability goals.
