Vingroup chair son gets VinFast top post

MANILA: Pham Nhat Quan Anh—the eldest son of Vingroup chair Phạm Nhật Vượng—has taken the top leadership role in VinFast.

In a statement, the Haiphong-headquartered marque announced that the appointment took effect last May 23 with Pham, replacing Le Thi Thu Thuy.

Per VinFast, the transition is expected to “establish a strong foundation for sustainable growth in the future” and support the firm’s “global expansion requirements in its next phase of development.”

Prior to his new role, Pham Nhat served as vice chairman and standing deputy general director at VinFast Trading and Production JSC. The company also mentioned that his “extensive multi-industry management experience” made significant contributions to VinFast’s development journey—from its initial foundation-building phase in the domestic market to the Company’s global expansion strategy.

“I am honored to assume the role of Chairman of the Board of VinFast. VinFast has built a strong foundation over the past several years, and we remain focused on executing the Company’s long-term strategic priorities, advancing innovation, and continuing to strengthen our global operations and customer experience. I look forward to working closely with the leadership team as VinFast enters its next stage of growth,” Pham noted.

When he joined VinFast in February 2019, he also held several senior leadership positions across vehicle development, manufacturing, sales and after-sales services, including Deputy General Director of Global Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, and Director of the Planning, Program Coordination and Quality Inspection Division.

Before joining VinFast, the 33-year-old Pham Nhat also became the deputy general director and deputy chief operating officer of Vingroup’s hospitality arm, Vinpearl from 2017 until 2019.

Further, Pham Nhat completed his bachelor’s degree in business management at Singapore Management University.

On the other hand, VinFast also clarified that while Lê Thị Thu will no longer be the automaker’s chair and a member of the Board of Directors, she will continue her role as the Vingroup vice chair, where she will focus on key strategic priorities.
