VinFast VF 5

Finished in Granite Black, the Vinfast VF-5's cabin layout looks as simple as the exterior design. The cabin is decently equipped with modern must-haves, with the centre console slightly tilted towards the driver's side. 

The Vinfast VF-5's driver's cockpit has a flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel with a rounded centre boss. Behind it is a 7-inch colour LCD instrument console. The free-standing 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system is tilted towards the driver's side, and so is the centre console, which has sleek trapezoidal panels for automatic climate control switches and buttons, parking lights, and other functions below them.

The floor tunnel between the front seats houses the rounded knob for the drive mode controller, which has gloss black accents around it. The wraparound design for the AC vents on the dashboard corners has chrome accents around them, with the cabin of the Vinfast VF-5 having additional features like driver seat height adjustment, air purifier and Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

The overall design language of the Vinfast VF-5 is not as breathtaking or futuristic as other Asian all-electric vehicles. This design has existed for a few years and is now unchanged, which might look too simple to some people's eyes. However, the proportions of the Vinfast VF-5 are decent, with a few design elements worth discussing.

At the front, the Vinfast VF-5 has a minimalist-looking fascia, with the all-electric compact SUV having a Y-themed chrome garnish across its width that stretches towards the Vinfast logo in the middle. The pentagonal headlamps on the corners of the front bumper have halogen projectors with daytime running LEDs. The headlamps have faux black garnish below them, which blends with the black cladding spread across the lower part of the front bumper.

The side profile of the Vinfast VF-5 has rounded wheel arches with black cladding over them, with the compact electric SUV having 17-inch alloy wheels as standard. The angular rear window panels have blacked-out garnish for the C-pillar behind them, which gives the VF-5 a floating roof effect. The rear profile of the Vinfast VF-5 also looks as simple and minimalist as the front, with this electric SUV having a stretched and slim LED tail lamp with a V-shaped element in the middle that houses the Vinfast logo above it. The rear bumper has auxiliary tail lights placed on its corners. 

The Vinfast VF-5 has a conventional suspension setup comprising double wishbones at the front and a multilink setup at the rear. Its suspension is comfort-tuned for soft ride quality at lower city speeds. The Vinfast VF-5 has two driving modes: Eco and Sport. Eco is suitable for low city speeds, while Sport is for enthusiastic driving and long-distance touring. 

A 100kW electric motor generates 134 bhp of maximum power and 135 Nm of maximum torque to power the Vinfast VF-5's front wheels. This motor is paired with a single-speed transmission and a 38.4kWh lithium-ion battery, which claims a maximum driving range of 326 km. The overall performance of the Vinfast VF-5 feels adequate for the urban city driving, but can leave wanting you for more power when the speeds rise, especially on highways.

The Vinfast VF-5 offers a decent number of safety features as standard, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and camera, and a few ADAS features like blind spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert and door open warning. 

The Vinfast VF-5's overall design inside out and its lack of comfort and convenience features make it feel slightly outdated by modern electric vehicle standards. However, this compact electric SUV has decent looks, space, performance, and ride quality at an affordable price point, which makes it practical for budget EV owners.
