SLEX, Skyway, NAIAX, STAR, and TPLEX initiate shift to cashless payment

MANILA: Starting October 2020, SMC- (San Miguel Corporation) operated toll roads will begin phasing in a new cashless payment system using RFID (radio-frequency identification) tags.

SMC president and chief operating officer Ramon S. Ang maintains that the RFID stickers will be installed for free on all types of vehicles that use the Skyway, NAIAX (NAIA expressway), SLEX (South Luzon Expressway), STAR (Southern Tagalog Arterial Road) Tollways, and the TPLEX (Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway).

This move is in compliance with the directive of the TRB (Toll Regulatory Board) through the LTFRB (Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board) as a means of physically distancing and to prevent or limit the transmission of COVID-19.

“We are committed to protecting motorists and our tollway operators and ensuring that everyone’s health is safeguarded by limiting personal contact and going 100% RFID on toll roads that we operate,” said Ang.

The first phase begins on October 15 on the Skyway, NAIAX and SLEX followed by the second phase covering the at-grade sections of the three tollways and include STAR Tollways in southern Luzon and TPLEX in northern Luzon starting January 2021.

All types of vehicles in all categories shall be required to comply based on the phased schedule of SMC.

As of June 11, 2020, the RFID installation areas along the Skyway are:

  • Bicutan CSC
  • C5 CSC Southbound
  • Petron Commerce Avenue
  • Petron C5
  • Petron Dasmarinas
  • Petron NAIAX
  • Shell Magallanes
  • C5 Toll Northbound
  • NAIAX Main Toll Plaza A&B
  • Old NAIAX- Drive Thru
  • Skyway Main Toll Plaza (Northbound)

Motorists traveling along SLEX can go to these locations:

  • Ayala Greenfield
  • Silangan CSC
  • Southwoods (Northbound and Southbound)
  • Sta. Rosa (Northbound)
  • Cabuyao Toll Plaza (Southbound)
  • Susana Heights
  • Petron San Pedro
  • Shell Mamplasan
  • Shell Putatan
  • Petron Evia
  • Eton (Northbound)
  • Filinvest
  • Mamplasan (Northbound and Southbound)

STAR Tollways user can apply for the RFID stickers at Star Toll Lipa CSC, Petron Lipa, and Petron Malvar.

If you’re on TPLEX, you can go to Tarlac CSC; Petron Pura NB; Petron Pura SB; Carmen Toll Plaza; Pozorrubio Toll Plaza; and Tarlac Toll Plaza.

SMC is also set to implement “RFID To Go”. Under this program, tags can be installed at the lanes with a minimum P200 load for Class 1 vehicles and an amount equivalent to farthest toll for Class 2 and 3.

Public utility vehicles (PUVs) and fleet accounts can visit www.autosweeprfid.com and follow the steps listed at the website. Supporting documents are not required for all applications, including “RFID To Go” and website-based. For more inquiries, call the Autosweep RFID hotline at ‪(02) 5318-8655.

Users can top up their RFID tags at reloading stations and online facilities such as G-cash and JustPay. Motorists can also use online apps from the Bank of Commerce, Union Bank, Maybank, Chinabank, BPI, and EON by Union Bank.
