Toyota plants to continue ops in Japan following earthquake
MANILA: Toyota announced that it will continue to run its plants in Japan after the devastating Noto Peninsula Earthquake.

The earthquake occured in the Noto Peninsula.“In regards to Toyota Motor Corporation’s plant operation schedule for January 8 onwards, after much consideration, we have made the decision to operate our vehicle plants in Japan. Many of our local suppliers and their affiliates were affected by the earthquake. Therefore, we will utilize parts in stock outside the affected areas,” the Japanese carmaker wrote in a press release.
“As aftershocks are still continuing in the Noto region, we would like to determine separately concerning operations after January 15. This will be done while carefully assessing the situation and continuing to place the highest priority on the safety of those involved and the restoration of the region,” Toyota added.
Reports from large news outlets say that Japan was hit by a 7.5-magnitude earthquake on January 1, 2024. Not only did it damage major infrastructures in the country but also claimed the lives of multiple people.
Toyota has extended its thanks to everyone participating in relief efforts. The company also hopes for a quick recovery.
