Toyota’s charitable arm establishes long-term partnership with Special Olympics

MANILA: Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF), Toyota Motor Corporation Limited’s global charitable arm, has recently formed an agreement with Special Olympics International (SOI). The said partnership will last three years and involves a grant amount yet to be disclosed by the Japanese conglomerate. 

TMF’s intention in partnering with SOI is to promote Unified Sports, where people with differing abilities can compete and train together without prejudice. The aforementioned highlights the power of inclusivity and, given that it is the Olympics, showcases the strength of Unified Sports on a worldwide scale. 

Notably, the brand’s partnership with SOI is part of two core programs. First is promoting and supporting Unified Sports, while the second is providing opportunities for training and organized competitions at the local level. 

The promotion of Unified Sports through the TMF partnership will involve an increased number of competitions worldwide and will foster Unified Sports leaders.

According to Toyota, the SOI’s commitment to facing challenges, respect, and inclusivity aligns with its philosophy. Together, TMF will work hand-in-hand with SOI to inspire people towards this path, and thus help humanity come nearer to its true potential.

Toyota and sports

In the local setting, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP)  has had a deep relationship with sports over the years. 

Back in 2024, TMP awarded a brand-new Land Cruiser Prado to Filipino Gymnast and Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo. 

Moreover, TMP supports local sports training programs, including one spearheaded by Yulo, held in November 2024. This falls under the Toyota ‘Start Your Impossible’ campaign, which fosters young athletes and also gives back to communities through corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
