Volkswagen announces its 2019 Grand California: An influential camper van

MANILA: The German Automaker Company, Volkswagen, is not new to the sphere of manufacturing camper vans. Known as the ‘Westfalia series’, the company has just made an addition to the list and has announced their brand new Grand California camper van. It is going to be one of the biggest camper vans Volkswagen has ever built.

The automaker has made it a really “Grand” California. The van is equipped with all the amenities, which is in fact very rare to find in a vehicle. The updated Grand California is equipped with a Loo and has a shower too. The Van is also loaded with a 110litre water tank, a fold-out wash basin, toilet paper holder, towel holder and proper ventilation. Doesn’t it sound absurd? But there is more. The van also has comfortable interiors, a bed, a berth for children, a television, a Wi-Fi router and facilities for cooking including a refrigerator and a gas stove. The camper even has swivel chairs and swing out table and above storage shelves to keep the cabin clean and pleasant. It has all the modern technologies needed for a comfortable camping trip.

Coming to the exterior of the all-new Grand California, the top of the van is slightly raised. There is a pop-up roof and a power step board that launches itself when the sliding door is opened. Also included are optional roof-mounted air conditioner, solar panel and bicycle rack. The camper van has alloy wheels, a chromium grille and two-tone paint.

Volkswagen has not made any revelations about the engines. However, they are expected to be from the turbodiesel range. But the company has made it very clear that the new van is going to be a 4Motion all-wheel-drive for better gripping in slippery terrain.
