Volkswagen Golf GTI grabs the title of Best Sports Hatchback in CAGI's 2015 Car of the Year

MANILA: The renowned award-giving body in Philippines, Car Awards Group, Inc. (CAGI) has awarded the title of the Best Sports Hatch to Volkswagen Golf GTI in 2015 Car of the Year event scheduled on November 13, 2015 at the CAGI Gala Awards Night at the Fontana Hot Spring Leisure Parks & Casino located in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.

CAGI has been awarding various prestigious award to the automobile on the basis of various test results and getting into detailed aspects of the car in terms of performance, value, safety and design. By this title undoubtedly the VW Golf GTI has received a great accomplishment in Philippine motoring.

The award-winning Golf GTI comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged stratified injection (TSI) engine that produces 220 PS at 4,500-6,200 rpm and a peak torque of 350 Nm at 1,500-4,400 rpm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed Dual Shift Gear (DSG) transmission and sports suspension.

Golf GTI also offers an array of safety features and driver assist technologies such as Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) based on the XDS plus technology, Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), engine drag torque control (MSR), electronic parking brake with auto hold. The driver assist features includes rear assist rear view camera with distance control, a driver alert system, and seven all-round protection airbags.

The cabin area looks very neat and elegant with the use of “Clark” fabric and Alcantara material in making of the seats. Other tech-ready features include: scuff plates, keyless-go entry/exit with push start, stainless steel pedals, GTI steering wheel with paddle shifts, interior ambient lighting and 2-zone climatronic air-conditioning system.
