Volkswagen Up is an Answer to Stiffer Emission Rules

MANILA: Emission rules are getting stiffer and stiffer around the globe, with car makers from every walk of life, from luxury to mass market doing their best to sail through this 'towards green' time. Earlier this day we informed you about Honda's future 'go green plans' and now we have one more joining the fleet. The automaker that is doing its best and is soon to present a greener eco-friendly car is Volkswagen. This much-talked about green car never turned its wheels towards the Philippines market but with country’s pollution levels getting sour, we hope VW Up Philippines launch happens soon.

The said eco-friendly car was first introduced as a concept vehicle in 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show with its production version making appearance in 2011. As for its latest update, 2016 Up is all set to debut at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show 2016. Tagged as the a proper facelift version, the 2016 Up is known to receive both heart and skin transplant.

Until now all the Up weather concept or production were designed Walter de'Silva and Klaus Bischoff, Volkswagen Chief Designer and Head Designer of Volkswagen Passenger Car respectively. But this new Up is believed to be the creation of Volkswagen Group New Design Chief, Michael Mauer, who was appointed mid-December 2016.

Coming to All-new Up Specification

2016 Up Engine - A new version of the currently present 1.0L 3 CYL mill now paired with a turbocharger is expected to deliver 60 PS of power in the standard variant. The higher trim is said to deliver 74 PS of power while the electric powered e-Up churning the highest output of 82 PS. The torque output remains same for all three variants at 160 Nm.

Acceleration and Fuel Economy - With better engine comes better economy and performance. With 64.2 mpg of mileage and 10 seconds of time frame to reach 0-62 mph, new Up is better than ever.

Exterior Body Frame - The new frame looks a lot appealing and carries a never seen before design language. The rear end and wheels being its major pluses. Also, it would now be available in seven body paints.

Cabin amenities - Better than before, is the right word. The car comes equipped with climate control system, air purification system, Beats audio sound system, smartphone integration system and much more.
