2017 Yamaha YZF-R6 revealed

MANILA: Earlier the Japanese bike manufacturer revealed that it will be bringing the all-new 2017 YZF-R6 on October 13 and the brand kept its promise by revealing the bike in its full glory. Winning the World Supersport Championship 3 times in the last 7 years, the R6 has been one of the most important models for the company and after a successful innings, it is all set to start a new journey with refreshed styling. For the ones who are looking to grab an agile, iconic bike, this 600cc model is a perfect choice and this is clearly evident from the sales count which is 160,000 units in Europe itself for the previous model.

The updated R6 carries the hardcore genes of the R-series, which is clearly reflected by the low-drag bodywork, sleeker profile, and sharp headlights. Like the YZF-R1, the new R6 also uses LED lighting to give great impact and turn signals are integrated into mirrors to maintain the sleeker form of the bike. The rear taillight is ultra-compact which is evolved in a manner to match the new tail unit. Powering the new YZF-R6 is the same 599cc parallel twin unit which is expected to deliver maximum power between 100-120 hp to the rear wheel.

Further, the engine is mated to a close ratio 6-speed transmission which delivers seamless power and maximum acceleration to match the powerful engine output. On the features front, the new R6 has a combination of analog and digital LCD instrument package, displaying a wide array of information, TCS and D-Mode. The D-Mode is specifically designed to give the rider a choice of selecting between the three throttle valve control maps (Standard Mode, A Mode, B Mode) for different throttle response at the push of a button.

For enhanced braking efficiency, ABS is standard and a lightweight new rear caliper is there to support the front system. For the Philippines, Yamaha is currently offering the YZF-R3 and YZF-R15 and looking at the growing demand of powerful sports bikes, this Japanese manufacturer might introduce the new R6 to improve the market share in the country. Surely, this beast will attract a lot of young riders who are in a consistent search of thrill and adventure.
