MANILA: Yamaha Motor Philippines Incorporated (YMPH) has organized one of the largest gatherings of motorcycle clubs in Visayas. This is part of the second leg of the “We Defy” campaign, which was recently held in Cebu.

    The second leg of the We Defy campaign, however, goes beyond just being a motorcycle meetup. In fact, YMPH organized a massive midnight ride that started at Plaza Independencia, passed through the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) and Bridge Park, and reached TOPS Cebu at dawn.

    Notably, the next leg of the We Defy campaign will be held in Mindanao. The company has not disclosed a schedule for this third leg, but it has mentioned that it will kick off soon. 

    Latest Yamaha model in PH

    The latest Yamaha to have entered the local market is the Mio Gear S, which currently retails at P81,900.

    Propelling the model is a 125-cubic-centimeter (cc), air-cooled gasoline engine, with the “Blue Core Hybrid” technology and a start-stop system. Yes, the motorcycle is actually a mild hybrid with a smart motor generator and power assist, which helps provide additional power when tackling uphill roads.

    This system is paired with the aforementioned start-stop system, which enhances fuel economy by automatically shutting off the engine when coming to a stop and smoothly turning it on when with a simple squeeze of the accelerator. 

    Other notable mechanical bits of the Yamaha Mio Gear S include a 5.1-L fuel tank, 12-inch wheels, front disc brakes, and rear drum brakes. 

    Noteworthy amenities of the model likewise include:
