India-based firm eMotion reveals its first electric motorcycle
MANILA: Over the past few years, we have witnessed a tremendous growth and development in the electric motorcycle industry. Many companies have realized the significance of the electric future and have stepped into this puddle. Companies like Zero Motorcycles, Alta Motors, etc., have even launched adventure e-bikes that could easily compete against the conventional motorcycles, but they are not available in every country.

An India-based firm called eMotion, has revealed its first electric motorcycle. It is called the Surge, and its official renderings have recently been shared by the company on its website.

The renderings tell us that the Surge has got a very edgy design. It is extremely sharp. So much so that it would not appeal to a large variety of audience. The front looks nice. The design of the tank looks sleek from the side, but it just cuts off near the seat, and it appears as if the tank is just placed there without any support. It resembles a tail box. Since these are the initial renderings, we hope that the final production-ready model will be more proportionate.
According to eMotion, it has been testing the Surge for the last seven years. It has clocked around 30,000 km of extreme testing to make sure the end product is flawless. The electric motorcycle has a lithium-ion battery of 40 mAh which gives a claimed range of 100 km on a single charge. eMotion is also planning to provide a battery pack that would act as a range extender. By using the pack, one could cover a stretch of 200 km in one go.
eMotion claims that the Surge is capable to complete the 0-60 kmph run in less than 4 seconds. This has been made possible because of the whopping 517 Nm of torque available at the wheel. The top speed of the Surge is expected to be 120 kmph.
There are some interesting features on the eMotion Surge, like smartphone integration, navigation, OTA software updates, 7-inch LED screen, etc.. eMotion even thought of providing a reverse function that would allow the rider to reverse the bike by utilizing the bike’s power.
As of now, there is no further information released by the company related to the launch or availability of the Surge. The price has not been announced, too. It is good to know that many startups that have entered the electric motorcycle segment, are working tirelessly to come up with a fantastic product. We will let you guys know more about the eMotion Surge when it will be launched. Meanwhile, let us know what do you think about this e-bike, and would you like it to come to the Philippines?
