Yamaha Aerox: top 4 reasons to buy

Well-equipped scoot boasts loads of features and a nifty new transmission

Yamaha Aerox: top 4 reasons to buy

Yamaha Motor Philippines updated its popular Aerox model back in August 2025. And with that, one of the more popular scooters in the market has received loads of new features that provide it with a stronger position in its highly competitive segment.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is the price range of the Yamaha Aerox?

The Yamaha Aerox has a price ranging from P125,900-P163,900.
  • How much horsepower and torque can the Yamaha Aerox produce?

The Yamaha Aerox can produce up to 15.1 horsepower and 14.2 Newton-meters of torque.
  • And despite that, the model has remained relatively accessible with its current price, which ranges from P125,900-P163,900.

But what is it about the all-new Yamaha Aerox that will make riders want to buy it? Let’s find out here.

    Sporty styling

As of its update, the Yamaha Aerox, including its standard and SP trims, has received a striking style update that belies its motorsport roots. But at the same time, it managed to maintain the same familiar silhouette of the previous generation model.

The proverbial cherry on top of the Aerox SP’s body is its cockpit, which Yamaha says was inspired by the R-Series. Specifically, this part of the scooter comes with a 3D digital display, paired with a clip-on style handlebar, and a layered dashboard with a two-tone color scheme. Likewise present is a small windscreen. Upfront, meanwhile, are dual LED headlamps.

From the side, the scooter comes with generously spacious foot rests, and a set of beefy-looking fairings. The model also rides on a pair of 14-inch wheels, wrapped in 11/80-14 tires for the front and 14/70-14 tires for the rear. Positioned on the tail end of the ride is a pointed LED taillight.

Available color options for the Yamaha Aerox standard variant are Race Blu, Glaze Blue, and Yamaha Black. The top-spec SP, on the other hand, boasts the Matte Blue colorway, which features contrast-colored red parts.

Size-wise, the Yamaha Aerox is 1,980 millimeters (mm) long, 710 mm wide, and 1,170 mm in height. It also has a wheelbase length of 1,350 mm, a ground clearance of 145 mm, and a 790 mm seat height.

    The Yamaha Electric CVT (Y-ECVT)

Another reason to buy the Yamaha Aerox, particularly the SP trim, is its Yamaha Electric continuously variable transmission (Y-ECVT)

The aforementioned is the motorcycle brand’s latest development in CVT technology, which is touted to provide a heightened acceleration feel while keeping throttle feel smooth. Together with its variable valve actuation (VVA), the Y-ECVT enables the engine to detect and adjust to riding speeds. It can even perform a simulated “downshift,” thus allowing for an engine-brake-like function for dealing with downhill roads.

The said transmission is paired with the model’s Sport and Touring ride modes, which are said to improve the Aerox SP’s performance depending on how the user is travelling. Sport mode was given a tune to make the Yamaha scooter more responsive, whereas the Touring mode is made for more relaxing journeys.

As for its engine, it uses a 155-cubic-centimeter (cc) Bluecore, single-overhead cam (SOHC), four-stroke, liquid-cooled gasoline engine capable of producing up to 15.1 horsepower (hp) and 14.2 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque

Ride quality for the next-generation Yamaha Aerox is ensured by a telescopic front fork and a rear unit swing arm. Stopping power, on the other hand, is handled by a front and rear disc brake setup.

    Loads of features

Apart from its stylish good looks and its highly capable powertrain, the all-new Yamaha Aerox comes with plenty of features that will make daily riding easy and convenient.

For starters, its digital display is capable of navigation - a must-have for commuters who have to travel within large cities like Metro Manila. The motorcycle also comes standard with Y-Connect, which is a smartphone application that allows users to remotely monitor their ride’s fuel consumption, parking location, and mileage - among other parameters.

Also present on the model are the following amenities:

    • Smart key
    • Start-stop system
    • 24.5-liter underseat storage
    • USB Type C port
    • Handlebar switch control

    Decent safety kit

Last but not least, for reasons to buy the Yamaha Aerox is its safety kit. As standard, it comes with a traction control system, an emergency stop signal, and an anti-lock braking system.

Many other nameplates that are priced higher than the Aerox do have more robust safety suites, but considering its price, what the Yamaha-made model comes with provides it with good value for the money.
