Probe on BOSS Ironman Motorcycle Challenge pushed

MANILA: Two members of the House of Representatives have recently filed a proposal that seeks to probe the recently-concluded endurance event held in Luzon.

In filing House Resolution (HR) 1612, 1-Rider party-list Representatives Bonifacio Bosita and Ramon Rodrigo Gutierrez urged the Committees of Transportation as well as Public Order and Safety to conduct an investigation regarding the “series of life-threatening incidents arising from the 2024 BOSS (BMW Owners Society of Saferiders) Ironman Motorcycle Challenge Luzon leg.”

Per the resolution’s authors, the event resulted in serious injuries, fatalities, and property damage — noting that two non-participating individuals were reported dead after colliding with the riders who joined the event.

The resolution noted that over 1,800 participants joined the event that has a route of nearly 1,400 kilometers of road in Luzon.

Based on the website, the resolution was referred to the Committee on Rules on March 4.

In a post over its Facebook page, event organizers admitted that there have been “unfortunate incidents” that happened in its event.

“Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt by the entire BMW Owners Society of Saferiders organization, for those affected. Each incident is one too many and we are actively working with local authorities and safety experts to understand the circumstances surrounding these incidents so we can implement measures to prevent future occurrences.”
