Yamaha Motor PH inks partnership with Tamang Ride to further strides on safety

MANILA: Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) has inked a partnership with Tamang Ride, a non-profit organization through ACTION (A Child’s Trust Is Ours to Nurture) that advocates road safety and movement in the Philippines.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How long will the initial partnership between YMPH and Tamang Ride last?

Per YMPH Marketing Section Manager Toni Acuesta, the initial partnership between the two names will last for one year.
  • What does YMPH aim to get from the partnership?

According to Acuesta, the company ultimately aims to get data to help it address concerns with road safety.
  • Per the local arm of the Japanese motorcycle brand, the said collaboration aims to help promote safe roads and traffic conditions as well as to educate all road users on their responsibilities.

Through the said partnership, YMPH looks to collect accurate data to understand how the brand can help solve issues concerning road safety.

“Our main goal is to gain accurate data, for us to understand how we can solve concerns with road safety... We want to understand the main causes of accidents… of course, if we can push for safer roads, more and more people will understand and appreciate riding Yamaha motorcycles,” YMPH Marketing Section Manager Toni Acuesta told Zigwheels Philippines.

    Data-driven

“For us we see a potential when it comes to getting data not from just one brand, but data we can get holistically — from four wheels, two wheels, and even data from the outskirts, not only in Metro Manila,” Acuesta noted.

“Everybody needs to solve issues and concerns when it comes to road safety. But the question here is, what concerns are we trying to solve?” he explained.

Acuesta admitted that almost every motorcycle brand has its own initiative pertaining to the safety of the rider and others. However, he expressed that the company would like to better understand why accidents still happen despite these efforts.

By crunching the numbers and all relevant factors, YMPH looks to find how it can support the riding community to promote safety.

“Imagine, all of us have our own campaigns and programs for road safety. But we want to understand what are the reasons why people are still involved in accidents. Is it behavior, attitude, or they are under the influence of alcohol… so we can support them better,” Acuesta added.

    Continued collaboration?

At the time of writing, YMPH and Tamang Ride have agreed to work together for one year. But the future looks good for the motorcycle manufacturer and the group, which will ultimately benefit the Filipino motorcycle riding community as well as other road users.
