MANILA: The Yamaha Philippines Racing Team has enjoyed improved results at the recently concluded fourth round of the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC).

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How did McKinley Kyle Paz perform for the Yamaha Philippines Racing Team in ARRC Round 4?

McKinley Kyle Paz delivered his strongest performance of the 2026 season in the Supersport 600 (SS600) category at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit. After qualifying in seventh place, he fought his way to a fourth-place finish in Race 1 and secured a second-place podium finish in Race 2.
  • What is next for the Yamaha Philippines Racing Team following Round 4?

The team is turning its focus to Round 5 of the Asia Road Racing Championship, which will take place in Malaysia from September 11 to 13. In the meantime, the team aims to regroup and apply the lessons learned from the UB150 category races in Indonesia to come back stronger.
  • Held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Indonesia, the weekend tested the Yamaha Philippines contingent across both the highly competitive Supersport 600 (SS600) and Underbone 150 (UB150) categories.

Yamaha Philippines Racing Team mainstay McKinley Kyle Paz delivered his strongest performance of the ARRC 2026 season.

After qualifying seventh, Paz fought his way through the pack to cross the line in fourth place, narrowly missing the podium but setting the stage for an even stronger performance the following day, when he secured second place.

To note, he finished third during Round 2 in Thailand. His other finishes were ninth and seventh in Japan’s Mobility Resort Motegi at Round 3.

Per Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH), Paz’s fourth and second-place finishes in Indonesia “demonstrated a significant leap forward as the championship enters its latter stages.”

The racing outfit also believes that “the wonderboy” is no longer chasing consistent finishes, but is eyeing to close the distance to the top.

    UB150

For the UB150 category, the Yamaha Philippines Racing Team appears to have run into some difficulties.

Riders April King Mascardo and Timothy Rojas finished Race 1 in 12th and 19th, respectively. Race 2 saw the former finish 12th again, while the latter ended in 21st.

YMPH noted that while the weekend did not produce the results they had targeted, every round of international competition continues to provide valuable experience for both riders as they contend against the region's strongest underbone racers.

“The challenge now is to regroup, apply the lessons learned in Indonesia, and return stronger for the next round,” the company wrote.

    Onto Round 5

With the season entering its decisive stages, the Yamaha Philippines Racing Team now turns its attention to Round 5 of the Asia Road Racing Championship, returning to Malaysia from September 11 to 13.

“Together, the team remains determined to represent the Philippines against Asia's best and continue its relentless pursuit to Defy Limits,” YMPH noted.
