Yamaha PH Racing Team hopeful for Malaysia after setbacks in Indonesia

MANILA: The Yamaha Philippines Racing Team is hopeful for its upcoming race in Malaysia after suffering from setbacks in Indonesia.

During Round 4 of the 2024 Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) season held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, Gian Carlo Mauricio finished 18th (Race 1) and 11th (Race 2) in the UB 150 category. His teammate, April King Mascardo, missed the race yet again due to an injury.

Mauricio — aka “The Flash” — “remains motivated to show his true abilities after being the race champion back in Round 2 at the Zhuhai, International Circuit in China,” Yamaha Motor Philippines wrote in a press statement.

On the other hand, McKinley Kyle Paz finished 12th (Race 1) and 7th (Race 2) in the SS 600 segment. His teammate, Apiwat Wongthananon, finished 7th (Race 1) and suffered a DNF (Did Not Finish) in the following heat.

Nevertheless, their efforts kept the Yamaha Tekhne Racing Team Asia number one in the team standings.

“Being an icon for Filipino racing as a trailblazer, “The Wonderboy” has been in tougher situations and will undoubtedly figure out a way to return on the podium,” the company said.

The Yamaha Philippines Racing Team looks forward to getting back on track at the forthcoming Round 5 of the 2024 ARRC season to be held at the Sepang International Circuit from September 13-15.
