Deepal S05

The Deepal S05 features a two-tone (orange-black) cabin design that looks and feels very premium for its price point. It offers both comfort and a sophisticated interior feel. Its leather seats are plush, even on long drives. The driver and front passenger’s seats also come with a ventilation function for elevated comfort. In terms of practicality, its cabin can comfortably accommodate five passengers, and it comes with an expansive cargo area at the back. The BEV trim also comes with a multi-color ambient lighting system. 

For entertainment and information accessibility, this SUV features a 15.4-inch central control screen that offers 2.5K resolution and is equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and internet-supported services, among others. The BEV trim’s infotainment system is linked to a 14-speaker audio system with an amplifier, while the REEV trim gets the 8-speaker version. It is important to note, however, that the majority of the car’s interior features are already integrated into the central control screen.

Meanwhile, the driver gets a smart cockpit that consists of a 50-inch projection heads-up display, a multi-control steering wheel wrapped in two-tone leather, an intelligent voice interaction system, and a driver fatigue monitoring system (exclusive to the BEV trim). Both trims also get a wireless charger.

For starters, the Deepal S05 model line measures 4,620 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height. This compact crossover SUV also comes with a wheelbase of 2,880 mm.

The Deepal S05 features a sleek, futuristic design that looks smart and elegant at the same time. Its smooth fascia is flanked by winged LED automatic headlights, which give it a unique, confident glare at night. Underneath, it is equipped with rectangular fog lamps, ensuring that the driver has maximum visibility on the road at all times.

In terms of suspension, the Deepal S05 comes with MacPherson Struts (independent-type) at the front and an independent Multi-Link at the rear. This suspension setup contributes to this compact SUV’s sharp and precise handling through twists and turns. It handles confidently for its size. Additionally, it decently absorbs smaller bumps and other minor road imperfections in the city. However, it is important to note that its suspension setup is on the firmer side of things.

The Deepal S05 model line offers two powertrain options. First, the battery electric trim (BEV) is powered by an electric motor, which generates 234 PS of maximum power and 320 Nm of maximum torque. Its motor is fed by a 56.12-kWh battery, offering an NEDC driving range of up to 458 kilometers. Additionally, its battery supports a fast charging time of 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, the range-extended electric trim (REEV) is powered by a combination of a 27.28-kWh battery-powered electric motor, which delivers 215 PS, 320 Nm of torque, and a 170-km NEDC pure electric range, and a 1.5L engine, which primarily acts as a generator. Combined, its hybrid powertrain offers an impressive comprehensive range of up to 1,234 kilometers. Both trims, however, utilize a rear-wheel drivetrain. 

Regardless of the powertrain, this compact SUV feels smooth and peppy at high speeds while remaining refined and efficient in stop-and-go traffic. Both trims offer smooth performance in the city. However, if you frequently travel long distances, then the REEV trim certainly has the upper hand among the two.

Safety is one of the Deepal S05’s strongest suits. This electrified SUV is equipped with a long list of advanced driver assistance systems, which includes blind spot detection, forward and rear collision warning, automatic emergency braking, full-speed adaptive cruise control, high beam management, lane change assist, emergency lane keeping, integrated adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, and reversing lateral warning, among others. This SUV also comes with a 360-degree camera, as well as front and rear radar warning.

Aside from that, its braking setup is supported by an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, vehicle stability system, traction control, brake assist, rollover protection, a hill-start assist control system, and a hill-descent control system.
