GAC Emkoo

The high sense of dynamism and futuristic appeal is carried forward in the cabin of the GMC Emkoo too, where GAC is offering three types of upholstery options to choose from – all-black, black and green and black and beige. Thanks to the presence of new-age elements and screens, the cabin has a high desirability factor, making it a smart place to be in.

The GMC Emkoo gets a three-spoke, multi-functional, flat-bottom steering wheel with contrast red stitching, which has a rectangular 7-inch full-TFT instrument console behind it. There is a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system placed on the side of the instrument console, which is placed above dial-shaped AC vents finished in a theme of satin chrome.

The central panel in the lower centre console, which is placed slightly higher, houses the stubby transmission lever, electronic parking brake, cup holders and wireless charging pad. Other features gracing the cabin of the GMC Emkoo include an air purifier, powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, sunroof and 6-speaker audio system.

GAC has been nailing perfectly with the design of its new-generation vehicles, and the Emkoo is one apt example of it. This midsize SUV has a striking design comprising a lot of angles and edges all around, which give it a flair of sportiness and extreme dynamism. Despite its raised ride height, the GMC Emkoo looks sporty and aerodynamic, making it a show stealer.

The front profile of the GMC Emkoo is dominated by the huge front fascia, which is covered by angular V-shaped lines spread across the width of the fascia, while also hiding the grille behind them. The upper part of the fascia has a small rectangular piano with black garnish flanked by widespread all-LED headlamps with daytime running LEDs that flow above them, while also extending downwards from the sides. More lines and creases can be found for the air passages on the sides of the front bumper and the hexagonal lower dam.

The angular appeal of the GMC Emkoo is very evident on the side profile of the SUV, with it having lots of creases and edges for door panels and fenders. Even the window panels have angular designs, which look striking towards the C-pillar, with the window waistline getting a satin chrome finish. The dynamism and stance of the GMC Emkoo are further enhanced by the side body cladding, wheel arch mouldings and 19-inch machined alloy wheels.

The rear profile of the GMC Emkoo feels very concept car-like, with angularly placed, boomerang-shaped tail lamps on the sides of the raked windscreen. The roof-mounted spoiler and rear diffuser are also characterised by a series of creases throughout them.

The GAC Emkoo has a suspension setup comprising of Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear, which feel slightly stiffer, but without compromising much on ride quality. However, the steering might feel too light to those who enjoy driving.

The GMC Emkoo shares its 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with the other offerings from GAC, such as the Empow sedan and GS3 Emzoom. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, this engine produces 179 PS of maximum power and 270 Nm of maximum torque. GAC claims a fuel efficiency figure of 16.1 kmpl for the Emkoo.

The safety features offered in the GMC Emkoo are six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, an electronic stability program, hill hold control, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, reverse parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera, adaptive cruise control with integrated cruise assist, traffic sign recognition system, front collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, high beam assist and traffic jam assist.

With an extreme design language inside-out, the GMC Emkoo looks highly trendy, dynamic and sporty, which will highly appeal to new-generation car buyers who want an attention-grabbing vehicle that is high on features.
