GAC Motor PH to reveal Emkoo Hybrid

MANILA: GAC Motor Philippines is set to reveal the new energy vehicle version of the Emkoo at the upcoming Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2024.

According to the Astara Philippines-led firm, the GAC Emkoo Hybrid will be seen inside its booth at the World Trade Center during the four-day motoring event.

The Chinese automaker’s local distributor has yet to share the full information about the upcoming vehicle, but the public can expect that the compact sport utility vehicle still has the same future-forward aesthetics as expressed with its distinct front fascia, bold lines, and sharp edges.

GAC Motor Philippines claimed that its “state-of-the-art hybrid engine system” is capable of delivering eco-friendly driving and impressive power on the road.

Last year, then GAC Motor Philippines Brand Head Redentor Cajayon shared to Carmudi Philippines (Zigwheel Philippines' sister company) about the company’s plan to bring in the electrified offering — supposedly during the final quarter of 2023.

Possible specifications

While waiting for its specific details, here are some bits of information about the GAC Emkoo Hybrid.

In its home country, the GAC Emkoo Hybrid is equipped with a 2.0-liter Atkinson engine with an electric motor that can deliver up to 130 horsepower and 180-Newton-meters of torque.

Aside from that, the Philippine-spec GAC Emkoo Hybrid might be outfitted with the following amenities such as a panoramic sunroof with electronic sunshade, dynamic ambient lights, a head-up display, LCD instrument cluster, and touchscreen infotainment system.

Additionally, the GAC Emkoo Hybrid could possibly have the collision energy absorption control, ultra-wide anti-collision beam, and integrated brake control system.

To serve as the nameplate’s electrified trim, customers may see the arriving model wearing a price tag north of P1.5 million.
