On a two-day escape, I took the GAC Emkoo to a remote eco-resort that was situated deep in hilly terrain. With two friends and my partner on board, and the boot completely loaded with gear, the car admirably handled the climb. It offers a great sense of agility. On winding roads, I enjoyed the steering feedback and how composed it remained on long stretches. On corners, I praised its firmness, but this became a mild discomfort on broken roads. In the rear seat, my friends felt it more. Also, the engine, when pushed hard uphill, gets noticeably coarse. Still, the optimum amount of tech in the car kept everyone entertained.

    Some owners may find the engine lethargic? At 177 HP and torque 270 my default mode is comfort which is just fine. The eco mode is only good for cruising and may not give the bump. Power mode makes it a beast. Could be better if paddle shifters are available. Read More
