Upon entering the JMC JMEV EV3, you are greeted by a cabin layout that exudes a strong youthful vibe. Its cabin is predominantly grey and black with some Turquoise accents all around. While its interior remains mostly hard plastic, the inclusion of a few soft-touch materials is always a welcome touch at this price point. 

At the front, a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen display is placed at the center of its dashboard. This display functions as both the driver’s instrument panel and the car’s CarbitLink-powered infotainment system. For entertainment and information accessibility, this display is paired with a 2-speaker sound system and is equipped with Bluetooth connectivity as well as hands-free audio and call functions.

In terms of comfort and practicality, it has adequate room to accommodate four passengers with the average Filipino height. One of this EV’s downsides, however, is that larger and taller individuals might find its cabin a bit cramped due to its low headroom and limited legroom. 

On the plus side, this EV offers a decent trunk space when the rear seats are folded. Its fabric seats are also quite plush and ergonomic for its price point. And, for enhanced passenger convenience, this EV also gets two USB-A charging ports, a 12V power socket, and five cup holders (front: 3, rear: 2).

For starters, the JMC JMEV EV3 measures 3,720 mm in length, 1,640 mm in width, and 1,535 mm in height. This electric hatch also has a wheelbase of 2,390 mm and a ground clearance of 120 mm.

The JMEV EV3’s design strikes a balance between cuteness and sportiness on the road. It looks assertive and fun at the same time. At the front, it displays a confident glare courtesy of its sharp, angular projector-type LED headlamps. A chic-looking grille with a shiny diamond-like pattern adds an elegant touch to the overall design of its front end. Additionally, a black bumper also gives it a nice, two-toned look.

On the sides, it displays a stylish contrast of colours, which is complemented by a set of 15-inch aluminum alloy wheels. LED turn signal lamps are integrated into this EV’s door mirrors, making its silhouette look more premium than its actual price point. 

Like its front end, its rear also has that cute, sporty vibe attached to it, which is enhanced by a two-toned bumper. Its back end is illuminated by a pair of angular LED tail lamps. This EV also comes with a high-mount brake lamp and an additional pair of fog lamps for better visibility at all times.

In terms of suspension, the JMC JMEV EV3 comes with a MacPherson independent-type at the front and a Torsion Beam at the rear. In the city, this EV is very nimble to maneuver even through tight traffic and narrow streets. It also remains composed through corners, thanks to its firmly tuned suspension setup.

Powering the JMC JMEV EV3 is a single permanent magnet synchronous motor that is paired with a 31.2-kWh Ternary Lithium battery (with Smart Global Temperature Control), delivering 50 kW (68 PS), 125 Nm of torque, and a 330-km CLTC driving range. Its battery supports a DC fast charging time of 30% to 80% in 30 minutes. This EV utilizes a front-wheel drivetrain. 

Off the line, the JMEV EV3 is surprisingly punchy and smooth. This EV also offers three drive modes: Normal, Eco, and Sport. Its electric powertrain feels faster than its actual performance metrics. Even at high speeds, its cabin remains quiet and peaceful thanks to its good sound insulation system. And, on top of this, you can also bring this EV on your shorter-distance out-of-town trips (e.g., Manila-Tagaytay roundtrip) in a single charge. 

In terms of safety, the JMC JMEV EV3 is equipped with a pair of driving assistance systems, namely, a radar system, which consists of rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree panoramic view camera system with dynamic guidelines and transparent chassis view. This EV hatch also offers an airbag for the driver, a vehicle immobilizer with an anti-theft system, a tire pressure monitoring system, and multiple seatbelts with built-in ISOFIX child anchors.

In terms of braking, the JMEV EV3 utilizes front ventilated discs and rear solid discs. Its braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, hill-start assist, traction control system, and a hydraulic brake assist.

The JMC JMEV EV3 hits a sweet spot for couples and single young professionals seeking an EV that is very city-friendly and, at the same time, is capable enough to take on weekend road trips.
