Porsche Panamera Interior & Features
Inside, the Porsche Panamera’s cabin strikes an impressive balance between luxury and high-performance. Upfront, drivers are treated to a high-tech cockpit, which can motivate them to bring their A-game at all times. Higher trims feature a heated GT sports steering wheel, while the lower trims get the standard heated version. This model line offers various options when it comes to the driver’s instrument dial. Meanwhile, owners of the higher hybrid trims also get a head-up display as a standard.
In terms of entertainment and information accessibility, all variants get an infotainment system that offers Porsche Connect, a digital assistant, navigation system, smart support services, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The infotainment system is linked to a BOSE Surround Sound System, which delivers high-quality bass and acoustics around the cabin.
In terms of comfort, higher trims feature adaptive 18-way electric front seats, while lower trims get the standard comfort 14-way electric counterparts. Both types get a memory package. The first row is a very nice place to be in. The second row is also pretty comfortable for the average Filipino passenger. However, taller and larger passengers might struggle at the back due to its limited headroom and legroom. If you prefer a bit more space, then the Executive variant is the better option.
Panamera Exterior
In terms of dimensions, all variants of the Porsche Panamera are 2,165 mm in width (with mirrors). All sport saloon variants are 5,052 mm in length and 2,950 mm in wheelbase, while the executive variant is 5,202 mm in length and 3,100 mm in wheelbase. This model line has a height range of 1,415 mm to 1,425 mm.
From the outside, the Porsche Panamera’s design exudes a mix of sportiness and elegance. It looks more tamed and sensible than its other sports car cousins. At the front, higher trims sport HD-matrix LED headlights, while lower trims get the standard matrix version. It flaunts Porsche’s iconic sleek hood design with a rugged-looking bumper.
The higher trims feature a sporty two-toned silhouette accentuated by blacked-out window trims and door mirrors. Meanwhile, the lower trims get silver-coloured window trims, which still look very classy and elegant. The Turbo S E-Hybrid and GTS variants flaunt 21-inch Panamera Turbo S wheels with a central lock, while the rest get 20-inch Panamera wheels.
Meanwhile, its back end has that sporty, futuristic look. It comes with a hypermodern-looking LED tail light bar. For an additional touch of sportiness, all variants get an exhaust system at the back. However, only the Executive variant gets a panoramic roof system on top.
Porsche Panamera Ride & Handling
In terms of suspension, the Turbo S E-Hybrid variant of the Panamera features a Porsche Active Ride, while the rest get an adaptive air suspension with a Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). That said, this sports car handles sharp turns or corners with ease and precision even at high speeds. It offers tremendous grip and control.
Additionally, it is also agile to maneuver and can absorb light to moderate bumps and other road imperfections quite well. Ultimately, the Panamera can deliver a supple and very pleasant riding experience for you and your passengers both in the city and out on the open road.
Panamera Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Porsche Panamera comes in four powertrain options. First, the base petrol-powered Panamera variant is powered by a 2.9L twin-turbo V6 engine that produces a maximum power output of 353 PS and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. Second, the petrol-powered GTS variant is powered by a 4L twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 500 PS and 660 Nm of torque.
Moving on to the hybrid variants. The 4 E-Hybrid saloon and executive variants as well as the 4S E-Hybrid run on Porsche’s hybrid system that utilizes a 2.9L twin-turbo V6 engine and an electric machine but are tuned differently. The 4 E-Hybrid saloon and executive variants’ powertrain generate a combined power of 470 PS and a combined torque of 650 Nm. Meanwhile, the 4S E-Hybrid’s generate a combined 544 PS and 750 Nm of torque.
Meanwhile, the Turbo E-Hybrid and Turbo S E-Hybrid variants run on a hybrid powertrain that utilizes a 4L twin-turbo V8 engine and an electric machine, which are still tuned differently. The Turbo E-Hybrid’s powertrain generates a combined power output of 680 PS and a combined torque output of 930 Nm. On the other hand, the fastest variant, the Turbo S E-Hybrid’s powertrain delivers an impressive 782 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque.
All variants run on Porsche’s eight-speed doppelkupplung (i.e., dual-clutch transmission system). The base Panamera utilizes a rear-wheel drivetrain, while the rest run on all-wheel drive.
Regardless of the powertrain and drivetrain, this sports car can run quickly and smoothly off the line. Its dual-clutch transmission system is very precise and responsive, allowing the driver to effectively perform upshifts or downshifts on the highway. In the city, its fuel economy is also pretty decent for sports car standards, which makes the Panamera a feasible daily driver.
Porsche Panamera Braking & Safety
The Porsche Panamera is equipped with a long list of advanced driver assistance systems. This includes Porsche’s ParkAssist, which includes a Surround View, active speed limit assist, warn and brake assist with pedestrian protection, warning and brake assist, as well as a driver awareness detection among others. In terms of braking, all variants except for the Turbo S E-Hybrid get a brake system with brake calipers. Meanwhile, the said higher variant features Porsche Ceramic Composite brakes with yellow brake calipers.
Panamera Verdict
The Porsche Panamera offers a sweet spot for discerning buyers who are looking for a sports car that is feasible and comfortable for daily use, feature-packed, and non-intimidating, yet can deliver a confidence-inspiring ride when needed.
