The Suzuki Ertiga has entered into the second generation and has only become bigger, much smarter and more practical vehicle than ever before. One of the most affordable MUVs available in the market right now, the compact Suzuki Ertiga is being offered in three variants – GA, GL and GLX, two powertrain options and seven paint schemes, namely Magma Grey, Glorious Brown, Silky Silver, Snow White, Radiant Red, Cool Black, and Burgundy Red.
On the inside too, the Suzuki Ertiga has seen some very significant changes, with an altogether new design for the dashboard, which replaces the dashboard shared with the previous generation Swift in the previous model.
The new Ertiga shares its flat bottomed steering wheel and analog instrument console with a MID screen with the Swift. However, the steering wheel here is finished in black and wood combination, along with the dashboard, which now looks sleeker and flatter and has a large and prominent touchscreen infotainment system at the centre. The faux wood panel runs across the centre of the dashboard, which adds some premium touch to the otherwise simply laid cabin.
The seven-seat layout of the Suzuki Ertiga is impressive, as it has enough space for all the passengers despite the compact size. The middle row can slide back and forth, which does liberate enough space for the third row as well.
The new second-generation model of the Suzuki Ertiga has raised the bars for compact MUVs when it comes to their outer appearance. The Ertiga has only become sharper in the way it looks, which should definitely appeal to the younger audience.
The front end of the Suzuki Ertiga has become sleeker with chrome finished trapezoidal grille and elongated headlamps adjacent to it, which do incorporate projector headlamps within them. The fog lamp housings do look aggressive, which makes the front bumper design look sporty.
Suzuki has increased the wheelbase of the Ertiga than before, which is quite visible from the way Ertiga looks when viewed from the sides. The doors are now longer and are characterized by a sharp crease flowing all the way till the edge of the tail lamp. The floating roof effect with black garnish on the D-pillar is also a refreshing touch.
The rear of the new Suzuki Ertiga looks very stylish thanks to the new wraparound vertical tail lamps and a more aggressive design for the boot lid. Features like steering mounted audio controls, roof-mounted AC vents for rear passengers, driver seat height adjustment, tilt-adjustable steering and electrically adjustable and foldable rear mirrors are some of the prominent features of the new Ertiga, apart from the new touchscreen infotainment system.
The Suzuki Ertiga is fitted with a setup of Macpherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear, which are tuned on a softer side here to impart a plush ride quality, give the MUV-ish trait of the Ertiga. The monocoque frame of the Suzuki Ertiga allows to be compliant and precise while driving, which makes it one of the most friendly MUVs to drive.
The Suzuki Ertiga in the Philippines is available only on a petrol engine as standard and the only engine available for the moment. The 1.5 litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which is present in other global Suzuki offerings like Ciaz and Jimny, puts up 104 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque. The engine is available with both the options of a 5-speed manual as well as 4-speed automatic from the Jimny.
For an entry-level MUV, the Suzuki Ertiga is equipped with basic safety essentials like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors with camera, seat belt pre-tensioners with load limiters and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.
The Suzuki Ertiga has already made an impressive position in the market for itself in the compact MUV space, and the new generation model only takes the bars even higher. With revamped styling in and out which looks much fresher and appealing than ever before, the new bigger engine which is more powerful especially in higher rpms and the enhanced sense of space altogether makes it a more mature product now.
I have been driving the Ertiga for over a year now and I must say that this is truly an all-purpose vehicle. Although I use it to travel to my office daily within the city, I know that this MUV has a lot more potential. This car is perfectly suited for a family of four or five as there

Probably the biggest reason to buy the Suzuki Ertiga is its fuel economy. Rush hour city traffic returned almost 9.5kmpl while on the highway it was more than 14kmpl. The first thing you notice when you start the Ertiga’s ignition and drive a few km, is its handling. The Ertiga is extremely efficient in this department, because of the weighted steering wheel which offers a planted cruise. On city streets, as you step down the transmission, the steering begins to feel light. Like all Suzuki cars, the Ertiga too
I waited for quite a long time for the new model of Suzuki Ertiga to be available and finally purchased it. Design-wise, the new model is a big leap over the old theme as it looks more modern and sculpted now. Not only that, I even feel that Suzuki has made gentle improvements on the performance as well.
