Aprilia RS660

As far as the design goes, Aprilia has put in a lot of thought in designing the RS 660. The bike gets an exquisite, futuristic and modern design that is not just aesthetically pleasing but is also functional and effective. The dynamic riding experience of the bike is enhanced by its aerodynamic profile, a modern V4-inspired design and the uniquely-constructed lightweight aluminium frame. The bike looks fun and classy with an outgoing appearance blended with an aggressive stance and sporty character. 

The color schemes offer a different character to the car while not appearing to be extravagant. The bike gets the perfect ergonomics that makes for a more committed riding posture suitable for a mid-size sports bike of this kind. The aggressive front profile is perfectly complemented by the winglets on either side of the bike and the double fairing that enhances the aerodynamic profile and offers a sleeker look from the side. 

When it comes to ride and handling, the RS 660 will beat most sportbikes when it comes to comfort and convenience. Unlike most sports bikes that have very little cushioning and back-breaking ergonomics, the RS 660 comfort-focused seats with padding and tapered sides. The rider’s seat has been designed with everyday convenience in mind offering ample space. The riding posture is not too far leaning forward onto the handlebars and you will not have to bend your legs too much.

With the Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC) package supported by a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit and features like bi-directional quickshifter (electronically controlled), engine mapping and five riding modes, the riding experience is absolutely stunning. The bike takes into the corner as smoothly as it gets out of them and the stability is commendable at higher speeds. You will never feel out of control with the RS 660. Deft and exciting handling is further enhanced by an adjustable inverted 41mm Kayaba fork in the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear.

The bike features a new 660cc parallel-twin engine based on the same platform as the 1100 V4 on the RSV4. The engine makes 100 hp of power at 10,500 rpm, and an option to increase the limiter to 11,500 rpm. Peak torque is 67 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. The riding experience, power and acceleration are top-notch with 80% of the torque available as early as 4,000 rpm and 90% at 6,250 rpm.

The bike is pretty good for everyday use and the fuel consumption is decent considering the mid-size sports bike tag. You can expect a mileage anywhere around 10-15 kmpl. It gets a pretty large 15-litres fuel tank.

The RS 660 is one of those bikes that gets an all-inclusive and really sophisticated safety package. The braking duties are handled by radial-mount four-piston Brembo calipers along with dual 320mm rotors in the front, and a two-piston Brembo unit on the single 220mm rotor at the back. The Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa II tires are wide and make great contact with the road offering excellent stability and enhancing the braking capabilities. 

As far as other safety features go, the bike gets literally everything which includes the Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC) package that has features like traction, wheelie, and cruise control. Along with that, it has engine brake control; engine mapping; multi-cornering ABS along with five different riding modes.

The RS 660 is a perfectly designed sports bike that is a great package in the middleweight segment. You get the practicality of an everyday bike and the aggression of a track beast.
