Honda TMX125 Alpha

The TMX125 Alpha sports a retro-inspired but rugged, aesthetic that prioritizes on practicality. Designed primarily for utility riders, the Honda TMX125 combines minimalist styling with robust components that reflect the Japanese automobile giant’s emphasis on function-first engineering. The bike is mounted on a strong steel underbone chassis built to endure heavy loads and bumpy roads. It comes with sidecar integration. The motorcycle rides on 18-inch wire-spoke wheels that are larger for better ride height and obstacle clearance. Heavy-duty collars and a reinforced sub-frame enable allow easy sidecar or cargo mount fitting. The Honda TMX125 Alpha gets a rectangular halogen headlamp with chrome housing. It also comes with automatic headlight on (AHO) feature. The motorcycle is equipped with classic-style rectangular indicators that are easy to replace and widely available. These are housed in shatter-resistant plastic. The Honda TMX125 Alpha comes with an analogue tachometer with gear indicator, an odometer and mechanical trip meter, and high-beam and neural indicators. There’s no fuel gauge and that’s a drawback. But there’s a fuel tap with reserve function. The bike gets an 8.6-liter fuel tank.

The Honda TMX125 Alpha comes with a long, flat, and padded dual-seat designed for utility. The foam cushioning is firm but adequate and offers reasonable comfort for both the rider and pillion. But it lacks the plush feeling of modern commuter bikes. The seat manages to hold up well during long hours of riding. But the absence of contouring may cause fatigue after extended use. The bike gets conventional telescopic front forks and dual rear shock absorbers. The suspension system is tuned on the stiffer side that handles payloads and uneven terrain. The ride quality is stable and composed. But when riding solo over potholes or rough roads, the suspension can feel a bit harsh. It isn't designed for cushy, bump-absorbing comfort. The motorcycle is extremely nimble to handle. The slim profile and short turning radius make it easy to manoeuvre through congested roads and crowded market alleys. The handling itself is light and predictable. 

The Honda TMX125 Alpha is equipped with an air-cooled, single-cylinder, 125cc engine that produces 9 PS/10 Nm. The engine is mated to a five-speed transmission. The powertrain is tuned or for daily commuting and durability. The engine gets a manual, kick-start system. The gear ratios are optimized for low-end torque, making it particularly effective for carrying loads or adding a sidecar. On city roads, the powertrain delivers smooth power at low revs. The lightweight (113kg) build, combined with the manageable clutch action and narrow body makes the bike highly manoeuvrable on congested urban roads. The bike returns an average mileage of 53 kmpl which is among the best in class. On highways, the Honda TMX125 Alpha remains stable at moderate cruising speed. But the bike isn’t built for high-speed touring. The engine begins to feel stressed beyond 80 kmph. Wind resistance is noticeable because of the motorcycle’s lightweight design and upright riding position. 

The Honda TMX125 Alpha’s braking system is basic but reliable. It gets drum brakes on both wheels. It lacks disc brakes and antilock braking, which isn’t unusual for its class. Safety-wise, the bike offers good stability at moderate speed and comes with a strong frame. While modern safety tech is absent, the Honda TMX125 Alpha is dependable and is built more for function.

At a starting price of ₱56,900, the Honda TMX125 Alpha is a fairly priced bike. For price-conscious riders seeking a trusted workhorse for daily duties, the bike returns great value without compromising on quality.
