Honda TMX Supremo

One look at the Honda TMX Supremo is enough to make you realise that it is not a modern-day motorcycle when it comes to sheer appearance. The overall design of the TMX Supremo looks like it belongs to the late 1990s, with it having a very basic and functional approach.

The Honda TMX Supremo has a basic-looking trapezoidal halogen headlamp, that sits within a trapezoidal cowl, which has large amber turn indicators attached to its sides. This cowl has a large instrument console placed above it, which has a slanted frontal design and acts like a tiny visor to the front fascia. Along with rubber gaiters for the front telescopic fork, the TMX Supremo has a rounded front mudguard.

Moving towards the side profile, the Honda TMX Supremo continues its basic approach, with the long and slim fuel tank and durable V-shaped side body panels having simple-looking strip-design graphics. The engine, exhaust pipe and covers of the drum brakes are blacked-out, while the Honda TMX Supremo having a lock and thick seat which feels big and very spacious.

The Honda TMX Supremo lacks rear side body panels, just like any other entry-level basic commuter motorcycle, and gets a large and functional tubular grab rail for the pillion rider. At the back, this commuter motorcycle from Honda has a simple-looking halogen tail lamp with a long fender below it, that has amber turn indicators mounted on its sides. 

The instrument console of the Honda TMX Supremo is an all-analogue affair, with the unit getting rounded dials for the speedometer and tachometer, and a small fuel gauge positioned in the middle of them towards the upper part of the console. The unit also has an odometer and other basic warning lights, with the Honda TMX Supremo also having an electric starter switch, passing light switch, and easy choke control.

Honda has carried forward the simplistic approach of the design and powertrain in the rest of its mechanical hardware too, with the TMX Supremo getting bare-basic, but functional setup for the chassis, suspension, brakes, wheels, and tyres. Sitting on a tubular cradle frame, the Honda TMX Supremo comes with a suspension setup of the telescopic fork at the front and dual-sided coil springs at the rear.

The Honda TMX Supremo has 18-inch spoke wheels as standard, which come with an 80/100-18 tyre at the front and a 90/90-18 tyre at the rear. This commuter from Honda is one of the few 150cc motorcycles in the world that come with drum brakes at both ends.

Matching the simple design of the Honda TMX Supremo is its tried-and-tested four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 149cc engine, which has proven its reliability and durability in all these years. This engine is paired with a 5-speed transmission and generates a maximum power output of 11 bhp and a maximum torque output of 11.6 Nm. Honda claims a fuel efficiency of 44.6 kmpl for the TMX Supremo with this engine, which is decent for a 150cc commuter. 

While there are no sophisticated modern-day safety features in the Honda TMX Supremo, the commuter motorcycle has the facility of a three-point sidecar attachment.

From today’s point of view, the Honda TMX Supremo feels very basic and outdated, with its functional design and approach in mechanicals helping it to cater only its limited target audience. While the Honda TMX Supremo lacks modernity and new-age features, it feels like a decently put-together motorcycle, which is easy to buy, ride, and maintain, with an engine that is built to last.
