Suzuki GSX-S1000GT

While the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT has got the appeal of a proper litre-class sportsbike in terms of dimensions and size of the body panels, the overall design has turned out to be quite polarizing. The design is eye-catching for sure, but while some find it too quirky and unappealing, some find it different and worth paying attention to.

At the front, the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT gets a massive and rakish front fairing, which looks highly aerodynamic due to its steep angle. At the lowermost tip of the front fairing, the motorcycle gets a pair of LED projectors which are differentiated with a black vent and are placed within a blacked-out housing. These projector bulbs come with sleek-looking, eyebrow-shaped daytime running LEDs above them, while the front fairing gets a large and transparent windshield above it, which is adjustable for its height. The fairing also comes mounted with rearview mirrors on it.

The side extensions of the front full fairing have a dual-tone treatment, with the snazzy-looking panels attached to add some aggression to the design of the side profile. The front extensions of the side fairing, which are black plastic panels, come attached with the LED turn indicators. The rear extensions of the full fairing have a slim design and fully expose the black-themed inline-four engine. The fuel tank with sleek lines, blacked-out frame, and trellis sub-frame of the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT have been retained from the naked roadster, the GSX-S1000. Even the compact single-sided exhaust pipe and alloy wheels have been retained from the GSX-S1000.

Compared to the GSX-S1000, the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT gets a heavily revised tail section, which looks beefier and goes with the sport-touring personality of the motorcycle. The wide tail section of the motorcycle comes attached with pannier holders on either side and split pillion grab rails at its back while having a split seat arrangement above them. At the back, the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT also gets a different looking LED tail lamp and a fender attached with LED turn indicators.

The rider’s cockpit of the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT comprises of wide handlebar, which comes adorned with high-quality switchgear and a full-TFT instrument console behind it. This console unit has different display modes for both night and day and shows digital readouts for the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meters, trip computer, selected gear, traction control mode, and various other information.

In addition to the engine, the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT also shares all the other mechanical components with the GSX-S1000. The motorcycle comes with a suspension combination of upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a fully-adjustable mono-shock at the rear. With dual 310mm discs at the front and a single 240mm disc at the rear for braking purposes, the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT rides on 120/70 ZR17 front and 190/55 ZR17 rear tyres.

Sharing its powertrain setup with the GSX-S1000, the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT sources its power from a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, inline-four, 999cc engine. This engine has been the mainstay of litre-class Suzuki motorcycles for years now, and here in the GSX-S1000GT, it produces a maximum power output of 152 PS and a peak torque output of 106 Nm. The Suzuki GSX-S1000GT also shares its 6-speed gearbox with its naked counterpart, the GSX-S1000.

The GSX-S1000GT is the most tech-rich sport tourer that has ever come from the house of Suzuki. The motorcycle gets riding aids like assist and slipper clutch, bi-directional quick-shifter, cornering ABS, cruise control, Suzuki drive mode selector, and a 5-mode traction control system.

While the overall design language of the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT might take some time to get used to, this sport tourer from Suzuki impresses immensely with a super refined and tractable engine, potent chassis, and ease of riding such a big motorcycle.
