JMC trucks to formally launch JMH EV LCV in PH?
LCV gains approval from LTO, DOE
MANILA: JMC’s commercial vehicle arm in the country appears to be poised for the official launch of the JMC EV in the Philippines.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What powers the JMC JMH EV?
It is powered by an electric motor with a 63.80 kWh battery. How much power does it make?
It makes 120 hp and 240 Nm.Zigwheels Philippines’ hunch came after the Land Transportation Office (LTO) released homologation papers for the light commercial vehicle.
According to the paperwork published by the country’s land transport bureau, the light-duty closed van will use an electric powertrain, hopefully helping usher in a cleaner means of moving goods for Filipino businesses.

Here are some of the specifications of the JMC JMH EV per the LTO.
Electric powertrain
According to the LTO, the JMC JMH EV will have an electric powertrain that puts out approximately 120 horsepower with a maximum speed of 90 kilometers per hour and an estimated range of 300 kilometers in a single charge.
With the rising fuel prices, it could be high time for small to medium enterprises and large conglomerates to adopt a logistics system that does not rely on traditional petroleum products. Doing so could negate the negative impact of the ongoing Middle Eastern crisis, and also potentially bring the cost of various commodities down.
It will rely on a lithium-iron-phosphate battery that can be charged in as fast as 45 minutes using a direct current charging system or nine hours with an alternating current charger.
Depending on how timely the products need to be handed over to distributors or customers, businesses and fleet operators appear to have a flexible choice when it comes to recharging their electric commercial vehicles.
Dimensions, capacities
The JMC JMH EV — based on LTO documentation — has an overall length of 5,595 millimeters (mm), an overall width of 2,270 mm, and an overall height of 2,500 mm.
It also has an overhang of 1,380 mm, a wheelbase of 3,100 mm, and can clear the ground by 180 mm.
The vehicle rides on 16-inch wheels fitted with 195/75 series tires.
Empty weight for the electric closed van is 1,970 kilograms (kg), gross vehicle weight is 3,510 kg, and net capacity is 1,540 kg.
It can seat two occupants.
DOE-approved
The JMC JMH EV also got approval from the Department of Energy (DOE), which is the regulating body for electric vehicles (EV) in the Philippines.
Upon checking the data from the agency, there appears to be some differences in numbers from the document released by the LTO.
The former numbers the overall height as 2,635 mm and the gross vehicle weight at 3,800 kg.
Moreover, upon scanning DOE’s entry for the JMC JMH EV, we can see that it has a battery capacity of 63.80 kilowatt-hours.
Additionally, after clicking the link for the electric commercial vehicle’s full specifications, we are led to JMC’s global website, where we can find the specifications of the Carrying EV, which is the global nameplate for the JMH EV.
To note, JMC Philippines posted a reel on its Facebook page showcasing — and hinting at the arrival of — the JMH EV.
It uses the TZ190XY113 permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum torque of 240 Newton-meters.
Other notable specifications include the following:
- Four-wheel drum brakes
- Electronic hydraulic brake
- Anti-lock braking
- Halogen lights with fog lights
- Seven-inch thin-film transistor instrument cluster
- Radio
- Air conditioning
- Fabric seating with manual adjustment

Availability
Upon checking the company’s website for the country (which will likely take over the sale of JMC passenger vehicles in the Philippines after Astara Philippines exit, with listings for the all-new Vigus and Grand Avenue nameplates), it appears that there is already a dedicated page for the JMH EV.
However, the listing appears to lack a description and suggested retail pricing.
