Upcoming electrified models hopefully to arrive within the year

EV Love: Check out these PHEVs from Jetour, Lynk & Co; upcoming models from Denza, Geely, JAC

Picking up where we left off on our plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) feature on our “EV Love” series for the month of February, we now take a look at some of the Department of Energy (DOE)-recognized nameplates from our favorite brands.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What brands have upcoming models?

These brands are Denza, Geely, and JAC.
  • What are some of the notable PHEVs from Jetour and Lynk & Co.?

Their notable PHEVs include the Jetour T2 Lighting i-DM and Lynk & Co 08 EM-P.
  • Speaking of which, we stopped with BYD on our last list, and are supposed to continue with Denza, Geely, and JAC. However, the models from the said companies are yet to be launched formally.

On that note, we will be jumping straight to the ones offered by Jetour and Lynk & Co., but we will still go through the exciting lineup the former bunch has to offer — hopefully later in the year.

So, without further ado, here are the electrified vehicles you should check out, the next time you are buying a new ride.

    Jetour

    Jetour Dashing i-DM

The Jetour Dashing i-DM is a hybrid crossover that uses a common recipe used by many Chinese car manufacturers, which is usually an electric motor with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine serving as a power generator, or what is usually referred to as the “range extender.”

For the nameplate, it takes advantage of two electric motors with a 19.27-kilowatt-hour (kWh) ternary lithium-ion battery and a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. The setup makes around 167 horsepower (hp) and 315 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.

It has a combined range of 1,200 kilometers (km), which is apparently the norm among these PHEVs.

    Jetour T1 Lightning i-DM

Next on the list is the Jetour T1 Lightning i-DM, which was recently released by the United Asia Automotive Group Incorporated-led company.

This model — as well as its bigger brother, which we will get to in a few — has a beefier body (compared to the aforementioned) that obviously attracted a lot of celebrities and influencers. Power comes from a hybrid system that uses a 1.5-liter gasoline powerplant paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) and a 26.7 kWh battery.

Performance-wise, the gasoline engine does about 140 horses and 310 Nm of pulling power (according to the company literature), while the electric motor dishes out 201 hp and a similar torque rating.

    Other stories:

    Jetour T2 Lighting i-DM

The bigger Jetour T2 Lighting i-DM sports similar aesthetics but tops its smaller sibling by getting two electric motors, a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, and a 26.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery.

It has a combined range of over 1,000 km and a top speed of 210 kilometers per hour (kph).

    Jetour X70 Lightning i-DM

The Jetour X70 Lightning i-DM is another electrified crossover from the Chinese brand.

Per usual, we see here at work a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and some electric motors. It also packs a 19.43 kWh battery, which, according to the company literature, allows the internal combustion mill to make 155 hp and the two PMSM 266 hp.

It has a combined range of 1,200 km, which we were able to test on our first drive of the model. You can find out more about it, here

    Lynk & Co.

    Lynk & Co. 01

Targeting the hip and upmarket segment is the Lynk & Co. 01

Born from Geely and Volvo’s collaboration, the Lynk & Co. boasts a modern style combined with forward-thinking technologies. That said, the 01 PHEV offers all that and a hybrid system that is comprised of a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor and a 17.6 kWh battery.

Performance figures are at 259 horses and 160 Nm, which is pretty decent.

    Lynk & Co. 08 EM-P

The next model from the brand is the Lynk & Co. 08 EM-P

This hybrid SUV uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and a PMSM with a 39.6 kWh battery.

It makes around 347 hp and 615 Nm. Impressive even is its 200 km electric-only range and combined range of over 1,400 km.
