EV Love: list of PHEV models recognized by DOE

In Zigwheels Philippines’ EV Love series, we previously listed all the recognized hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) on the Department of Energy’s website. Now, we’re listing all recognized plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). 

To note, some brands on the DOE website doesn’t seem to have all of their PHEV models listed down. There are also models that have already appeared in the HEV list but are still in the PHEV list. 

On this note, be aware that the DOE new energy vehicle (NEV) is ever-changing and is always seeing updates. So if a model known to be registered with “green license plates” isn’t on the list, its entry on the DOE site might just be getting an update or revision. 

And like on the previous list, we marked models that are not out with an asterisk (*). Additionally, most of the nameplates below belong to the “M1,” or passenger vehicles weighing from 2,200 kilograms (kg) to 5,00 kgs. The only “N1,” or light commercial vehicles on the list is the Radar RD6 Econ.

Final thoughts

To remind readers, the DOE NEV list is constantly getting updates. So, if you do not see your PHEV model on this list, be assured that it might just be getting an update.
