Check out some of the sexiest sedans available in PH

With the love month upon us, it’s only fitting to talk about some of our automotive fantasies — and the author has always been into sexy sedans

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are some of the sexy sedans on the market today?

Some of the sexy sedans currently available on the market include the Honda Civic, Toyota Camry, and BYD Seal.
  • What powertrains do these sedans use?

These sedans use powertrains that range from combustion engines, hybrids, and all-electric drive units.
  • More of a taste developed over years of driving than a kink, sedans can be seen as the ideal daily driver since they are athletic and agile but are also fuel-efficient and practical. With only four seats and a cooped-up cabin (compared to vehicles in other segments, that is), these compact rides offer a more personal — intimate, even — driving experience.

So, without further ado, here are some of the sultriest sedans currently available on the Philippine market.

    Honda Civic

The Honda Civic is arguably one of the sexiest sedans offered by a Japanese brand here in the country.

Many enthusiasts praise the latest iteration of the nameplate for its more mature styling, which may attract car buyers who are looking for a ride with modern, minimal appeal.

Notable is its bold front fascia with a striking honeycomb grille flanked by a pair of sleek headlamps. Admirable too, are its sculpted hood and its distinct rear.

Power comes from a 1.5-liter gasoline engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which makes some 175 horsepower (hp) with 240 Newtom-meters (Nm) of torque. In the range-topping variant, the powertrain unit consists of a hybrid 1.9-liter gasoline mill with an electric CVT (139 hp from the internal combustion engine and 181 hp from the electric motor with 315 Nm top torque) — so you also get some level of fuel efficiency in your drives.

The top-of-the-line model also gets some RS treatment that adds a few exterior and interior appointments, which we have listed below:

    • Black-painted grille
    • Piano black side mirrors with integrated turn signals
    • RS e:HEV exclusive matte gray alloy wheels
    • Chrome, black door handles
    • Piano black rear spoiler
    • RS badging
    • Red RS interior accent

For those wanting a more sportier version, Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated is offering the Civic Type-R

Based on the same platform, it boasts a more athletic look and a capable powertrain system to boot. That said, here are its engine specifications:

    Engine displacement (in cc)

    1,996

    Transmission

    Six-speed manual transmission

    Maximum power output (in hp)

    315

    Maximum torque (in Nm)

    420

Likewise, it gets model-specific trims, which we have listed here:

    • Red Honda badges
    • Type-R front bumper
    • Type-R rear bumper
    • Type-R rear bumper spoiler
    • Type-R wing

    GAC Empow

Now those who want a sedan with a similar vibe as the aforementioned Honda Civic Type-R without breaking the bank could check out the Chinese-made GAC Empow

It also radiates sportiness and athleticism thanks to the chiseled exterior with plenty of aggressive angles and sexy contours.

Eye-catching is its large grille with vertical slats. The fascia is highlighted by yellow accents — alongside some carbon fiber appliques — that surround its latticework, which also gives the car a dynamic look.

It rides on a set of 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels that are shod in 225/60 series tires. Sharing the same yellow hue are brake calipers that seem to peek through the openings of its two-tone wheels.

The rear of the GAC Empow is also impressive with quad exhaust pipes complementing its graceful bodylines.

    Toyota Camry

Bringing a dash of elegance and luxury to our sexy sedan list is the updated Toyota Camry

The newest iteration of this executive car from the Japanese brand was silently launched not too long ago, somewhat out shined by the roll out of the next-generation Toyota Tamaraw

Proving that less is more, the Toyota Camry boasts subtle, yet bold styling.

Its front fascia gets stylish horizontal slats with a mesh-like design at the end. The headlamps are well tucked under the bonnet, which gives off a clean-looking impression.

The side profile of the sedan is also straightforward with mostly straight bodylines and minimal cosmetics. It rides on a set of two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/45 series tires.

Its rear end gets combination taillamps, an “HEV” badge (due to its hybrid electric vehicle powertrain), and some defined lines.

Overall the Toyota Camry offers an unmistakable look without being too loud.

Luxe is its cabin, with a wealth of amenities that reinforce the model’s position as a passenger’s car.

Below are some of the said features:

Power comes from a 2.5-liter engine married to a CVT. It is paired with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery combo for a total of 205 horses combined (167 hp from the internal combustion engine and 134 hp from the electric motor) with pulling power that peaks at 221 Nm.

    Hyundai Ioniq 6

From hybrids, we now jump to a fully-electric fastback sedan with the Hyundai Ioniq 6.

The said vehicle from the South Korean carmaker wows not just with its streamlined style but also with its ability to offer would-be owners a step towards sustainable mobility.

    Photo from Hyundai Motor Philippines

Its body is not only aesthetically sound but is also aerodynamically optimized. Its sleek silhouette is not just for show as Hyundai Motor Philippines notes that these minimize air resistance, which leads to smooth and dynamic driving.

    BYD Seal

Released during last year’s Philippine International Motor Show, the BYD Seal looks to raise the bar of fully-electric sedans in the country.

Style-wise, it flaunts a striking bonnet that flows smoothly to the rear. Alluring are its headlamps, whose housing is connected to the daytime running lights position at each end of its fascia. A protruding chin rounds up its frontal features.

The flanks of the BYD Seal is highlighted by aggressive-looking side sill garnishes, a set of 19-inch aerodynamically designed alloy wheels with 225/50 tires, flush door handles, and a pair of body-colored side mirrors with cameras and repeaters.
