Here are the PH-retailed JMC Grand Avenue's 4 variations

JMC Philippines — under the stewardship of Astara — has launched the Grand Avenue in 2024. Since then, it has held the fort for the Chinese brand, together with its commercially oriented brother, the Vigus. 

On that note, we take a quick look at the four variants of the carmaker’s pickup truck to help car buyers find the right trim that best suits their budget and motoring needs. 

So, without further ado, here are the four available grades of the JMC Grand Avenue. 

Dimensions 

Before we begin, it is worth pointing out that all variants of the JMC Grand Avenue share the same dimensions. Below are their measurements:

4X2 MT 

The JMC Grand Avenue 4X2 MT is the base variant model of the nameplate and is packed with more than just the bare essentials. 

Exterior

At the fore, the manual transmission-equipped, two-wheel drive model packs square-shaped headlamps with LED daytime running lights. For added illumination, it also gets a set of front fog lamps. 

Despite its entry-level positioning, the pickup trucks get features such as headlamp delay off technology, fog lamp turning assist, as well as LED turn signals on its power side mirrors. Speaking of which, its flanks are highlighted by a set of 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 265/65 series tires. 

Behind, the JMC Grand Avenue 4X2 MT is fitted with a high-mount stop lamp, an easy-lift tailgate, boxy taillamps, and rear fog lights. 

Rounding up its notable exterior appointments include the following: 

• Hood air struts
• Skid plates 
• Front recovery hooks 

Interior 

The cabin of the JMC Grand Avenue 4X2 MT gets decent amenities that complement its generous interior space, 

For example, the driver is faced with a two-way adjustable steering wheel, which has multi-functional controls. Past it is an instrument cluster that combines analog gauges with a 3.5-inch thin-film transistor digital display. 

It is complemented by a 10-inch infotainment screen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. 

Depending on who is looking, the center display — with a standard landscape orientation — may seem dated or might bring a breath of fresh air, as most lifestyle pickups nowadays sport large tablet-like monitors taking up the space offered by the center console. 

Right below the screen is a large utility tray, which will more often than not, cater to one’s smartphone, cards, and other small daily carry items. 

A little closer to the driver is the gear shifter and a mechanical parking brake. 

Keeping the occupants comfortable in both short and long trips are seats covered in leather. For the said variant, the front seating is four-way adjustable while the rear is a flip-up, bench-type seat. 

Below are some notable features offered by the base variant truck: 

• Keyless entry with push-start button
• Air conditioning system with pollen and PM 2.5 filter 
• Power windows 

Powertrain, chassis 

Under the hood of the JMC Grand Avenue 4X2 MT is a 2,296 cubic-centimeter diesel engine mated to a Magna six-speed manual gearbox. Below are its power figures:

Providing ample stopping power are a set of disc brakes on all four wheels. 

Supporting the pickup truck is a double wishbone (with coil spring) setup at the front and a leaf spring arrangement at the back. 

The overall chassis setup of the JMC Grand Avenue 4X2 MT gives it a good approach and departure angle, which measures 30 and 26 degrees, respectively. 

Safety

For safety, the JMC Grand Avenue 4X2 MT is equipped with the following technologies:

• Collision auto-lock 
• Automatic door return 
• Anti-lock braking 
• Electronic brake-force distribution 
• Electronic stability control 
• Brake assist

4X4 MT 

The JMC Grand Avenue 4X4 MT shares a similar set of features as the entry-level model, but ups the truck’s capabilities by adding a more versatile drivetrain. 

Responsible for sending power to all four wheels is a time-sharing four-wheel drivetrain with a center differential lock. 

This ensures that the JMC Grand Avenue 4X4 MT will be able to conquer almost any terrain, making it an ideal ride for those who need to haul cargo in both urban and rural environments. 

4X2 AT 

Taking things up a notch is the automatic variants of the JMC Grand Avenue, starting with the two-wheel drive model. 

Exterior 

Building on the features of the manual transmission-equipped variants, the JMC Grand Avenue 4X2 AT boasts the following appointments: 

• Auto-sensing headlamps 
• Rain-sensing wipers 
• Cargo body wear-resistant adhesive layer 
• Side steps 

Interior 

Some amenities geared towards creature comfort can also be found inside this variant’s cabin. These come in the form of the following features: 

• Rear air conditioning vents 
• Paddle shifters 
• Six-way power adjustable front seats 
• Electronic parking brake lever

Powertrain, chassis 

While the same diesel engine beats under the JMC Grand Avenue 4X2 AT’s bonnet, it now uses a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift. 

The combination of a 2.3-liter mill and the said automatic transmission allows the pickup truck to generate the same amount of power while improving its torque figures to 450 Nm. 

It also improves convenience when driving in the city and even on the expressways, as the transmission system offers smooth shifts without requiring the driver to constantly step on a third pedal. 

Safety 

Some safety technologies are added to its already robust list, which are the below features: 

• Second collision brake
• Post-collision brake 
• Reverse camera 
• Tire pressure monitoring system 
• Passenger airbags 
• Side airbags 

4X4 AT 

Finally, the range-topping JMC Grand Avenue 4X4 AT comes with all the bells and whistles offered by the nameplate. 

It has the features of the aforementioned JMC Grand Avenue 4X2 AT model, but allows its owners to do more and go further thanks to a four-wheel drive system. 

The same time-sharing four-wheel drivetrain with a center differential lock improves grip when going over muddy trails and balances power delivery that is better suited for conquering challenging landscapes. 

On that note, the top-of-the-line variant ensures that drivers and passengers will experience comfort and power when needed.
