Will JMC PH bring in the Grand Avenue EV?

MANILA: JMC (Jiangling Motors Corporation) Philippines will soon be competing in the new energy vehicle (NEV) arena and we have a hunch that it could be the Grand Avenue’s electrified version.

Based on a teaser posted today, the Astara-led automotive distributor hinted that “something powerful is coming up”.

A statement from JMC Philippines backed the teaser, saying that the upcoming electric vehicle models highlight the brand’s commitment to providing innovative and eco-friendly mobility solutions for Filipino consumers.

Although official details have yet to be revealed, JMC Philippines noted that it is preparing to launch “models that reflect its forward-thinking vision for the future of mobility” — suggesting that it could be more than one NEV offering.

 “Stay tuned for further announcements on how JMC’s latest offerings will shape the future of transportation in the country,” the company added.

Possible offering

Upon checking the company’s global website, Zigwheels Philippines learned that JMC has two EV offerings, one commercial vehicle, and the other, the Grand Avenue EV.

Overseas, the JMC Grand Avenue EV has the following measurements:

It carries the same boxy design cues as the currently-retailed Grand Avenue in the Philippines — with the major difference being the closed shield-shape front grille.

The said model sits on 17-inch wheels wrapped in 265/65 radial tires.

Similar to the already-available internal combustion engine-propelled version, the JMC Grand Avenue EV offers a modern and spacious cabin.

Among the amenities outfitted in the vehicle are:

10-inch infotainment system matched to either a four- or six-speaker set-up (Android Auto and Apple Carplay-ready)	Six-way electronically-adjustable driver seat (variant-dependent)
3.5-inch thin film transistor gauge cluster	Push start button
Tilt-and-telescopic adjustable multi-function steering wheel	Numerous charging ports (USB and 12-volt sockets)

Powering the Grand Avenue EV is an electric motor that can dish out the following outputs:

The mill gets its juice from a 88-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery that gives the vehicle a 423-kilometer range (based on New European Driving Cycle standards).

Guaranteeing stability to the vehicle is its suspension system made up of the following:

• Rear: Leaf Spring

Further, its host of technologies are made up of active and passive safety features as well as security amenities such as:

Additionally, the JMC Grand Avenue EV’s body is made up of 65-percent high-strength steel — with the entire exterior covered in galvanized plates.

However, unlike the currently-offered trims, the JMC Grand Avenue only comes in two 4x2 options namely the GL and LX.
