Li Auto L7: 4 reasons to buy

Li Auto, which recently entered the Philippine market in March 2025, is clearly going big on electrified vehicles. Its first two offers are both sport utility vehicles, with one being the L7 - a cushy mid-size model.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much horsepower and torque can the Li Auto L7 produce?

The Li Auto L7 can produce up to 442 horsepower and 650 Newton-meters of torque.
  • What is the total range of the Li Auto L7?

According to the CLTC, the Li Auto L7 has a total range of 1,421 kilometers.
  • The aforementioned positions the car brand competitively in the local scene, as the L7 is primed to face nameplates like the Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X3—both strong and established rivals in the local luxury SUV space.

With that said, many might ask if the Li Auto L7 has the chops to compete against such industry veterans. It is, after all, a new nameplate, which in the eyes of would-be buyers is still untested in the local setting.

So, the question now is: what are the reasons that will make you want to buy a Li Auto L7? Let’s find out here.

    Peppy powertrain

While touted as efficient, the Li Auto L7’s powertrain is notably powerful as well. Specifically, its 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender, together with the battery and electric motor, can generate up to 442 horsepower and 620 Newton-meters of torque. With the said output, Li Auto claims that the L7 can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 5.3 seconds.

Speaking of efficiency, the model is touted to provide a low fuel consumption rate of just 17.5 kilometers per liter (km/l). It likewise boasts a total range of 1,421 kilometers (km) and an electric-only range of 286 km, according to the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC)

Apart from being a range-extended electric vehicle, the L7 can also be charged via its alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) ports. Its DC port in particular is quite quick, with a charge time of 20 to 80 percent in just 25 minutes for the top-spec Ultra variant.

Additionally, the model ensures a smooth ride thanks to Li Auto’s “Magic Carpet Air Suspension Pro.” Per its name, it is a system that primarily utilizes air suspension, while being reinforced by continuous damping control and an “XCU central domain controller.” The result is an active and fast suspension system that is touted to provide a feeling of riding on a “magic carpet.”

And of course, the said air suspension means the ability to have variable ride height, which is a useful tool to have for people traveling on a wide variety of road surfaces and conditions.

    Abundance of features

As expected for an SUV that’s positioned in the luxury segment, the Li Auto L7 offers a spacious five-seater interior enhanced by all-leather upholstery, plenty of soft-touch surfaces, a two-pane electronic sunroof, and a triple-zone automatic air-conditioning system.

Drivers of the Li Auto L7 have access to a leather-wrapped steering wheel equipped with a digital display strip. The aforementioned display is small, but most driving and vehicle-related information is projected onto the SUV nameplate’s sizable high-definition heads-up display (HUD).

Additionally, all seats of the Li Auto L7 come with electronic adjustability. Both front and rear cabins also have leather armrests, with the one in the back being a foldable unit with built-in cup holders.

Interestingly, all of its seats can be folded down in order to form a cushy lounging area that will also work great for people wanting to take their cars out on camping trips. And to make everyone included inside the L7, it features a multi-modal wireless conversation system that is able to take voice commands and even gestures from everyone inside the car.

For on-board entertainment and navigation, the L7 also has a 15.7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also boasts several USB ports, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and a 21-piece Platinum sound system. The main central display of the model is paired with a larger 21.4-inch rear display with a 3K resolution.

Other notable interior features of the Li Auto L7 include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Artificial intelligence assistant
    • Negative oxygen ionizer
    • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 infotainment processor (with 32 gigabytes of random access memory)

    • Power-adjustable leg rests
    • Seat massage function
    • Air quality system

    Quiet, elegant styling

Appearance-wise, the Li Auto L7 boasts a quiet but elegant styling that somewhat detracts from the brusque persona of other locally available SUV models.

Specifically, it comes in a rounded silhouette, albeit with some choice character lines on its hood and lower door sections.

Its front clip, meanwhile, boasts a LED daytime running lamp bar, black-colored lower vents, and a pair of square-shaped LED headlamp clusters. Further enhancing its slick profile are flush door handles and a set of aerodynamic 20-21-inch wheels.

Other notable exterior amenities available to the Philippine-spec Li Auto L7 include:

    • Steer-assist LED lamps
    • Adaptive LED headlamp adjustment
    • Rain-sensing wipers
    • Active grille
    • Power tailgate

    • Power-folding and adjustable side mirrors

    Advanced safety technologies

Another reason to buy the Li Auto L7 is its extensive safety kit. Like most modern cars, the Li Auto SUV comes with what you’d expect when it comes to its basic safety gear. Its suite of advanced driver-assist systems is a high-tech collection of features that is controlled by two Nvidia Drive Orin-X processors.

With that amount of processing power, the model can use its all-weather LiDAR systems, its forward millimeter wave radar, exterior cameras, and 12 ultrasonic radar systems to provide users with autonomous parking capable of automatic pathfinding and parking space recognition, highway self-driving, road condition awareness, obstacle avoidance, and urban intersection navigation.

The L7’s individual list of ADAS systems, meanwhile, includes the following:

    • Autonomous emergency braking (front and rear)
    • Front and rear cross-traffic assist and braking

    • Automatic emergency steering

    Final thoughts

On paper, the Li Auto L7 makes for a compelling option if you’re the type of buyer who wants something that is thoroughly equipped with creature comforts, albeit with fewer emissions down the line. The model, as mentioned above, is a range-extended unit that boasts an ample amount of power. Sure, it isn’t a full-blown electric vehicle (EV), but having the option to power the ride with fossil fuels eliminates range anxiety as well.

For now, Li Auto has yet to indicate the L7’s pricing on its official Philippine website. So for those interested in this luxurious ride, you would do well to visit Li Auto’s showrooms in Bonfacio Global City and in Brgy. Baclaran, Parañaque City.
