4 reasons why you should buy the Ford Territory Hybrid

Ford Philippines has brought in the Territory Hybrid as its premier entry into the electrified crossover arms race. And with the Territory being a popular crossover nameplate from the get-go, there’s no doubt that many would-be buyers will be checking out this car.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is the price of the Ford Territory Hybrid Titanium X in the Philippines?

In the Philippines, the Ford Territory Hybrid Titanium X retails at P1.599 million.
  • How much horsepower and torque can the Ford Territory Hybrid produce?

The Ford Territory Hybrid’s 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 gasoline mill can make up to 148 horsepower (hp) and 230 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque, while its electric motor can dish out 215 hp and 315 Nm of torque.
  • It is, after all, a follow-up to one of the Blue Oval brand’s most prominent nameplates in the local scene. Also, the fact that it is Ford’s first-ever hybrid in the country will certainly help it gain attention.

But for those seriously looking for a brand-new daily chariot, why should they buy the Ford Territory Hybrid? Here are the top four reasons why.

    Peppy performance, agile handling

On paper, the Ford Territory Hybrid promises to be a peppy crossover. Sure, it has been touted for its environmentally-friendly powertrain and the fuel savings it can provide, but its output figures are nothing to scoff at as well.

To be exact, the model’s 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine on its own can generate up to 148 horsepower (hp) and 230 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. The aforementioned is coupled with its two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission and electric motor, which can provide a further 215 hp and 315 Nm of torque

Speaking of efficiency, Ford says that the Territory Hybrid can return a combined (city and highway) fuel economy of 19.6 kilometers per liter. Many will also like its “comfort braking” mode, which ensures that it won’t dive or squat during hard acceleration or braking.

To ensure ride quality and handling, the model uses a front MacPherson strut suspension system and a multi-link rear end. Stopping power for the ride is provided by disc brakes for all four wheels.

    Loads of amenities

Being a modern crossover, Ford also made sure to pack the Territory Hybrid, especially the top-spec Titanium X variant, with plenty of creature comforts.

For starters, the model has leather upholstered seats and a dashboard with plenty of soft-touch surfaces. Added liveliness inside the vehicle is also provided by polished decorative trim pieces and contrast color stitching all around.

Keeping everyone cool inside the vehicle is a dual-zone automatic climate control system. Mood during daily drivers and long journeys can also be enhanced by the presence of a power sunroof. On the other hand, the model comes with plenty of sound deadening, including a soundproof windshield. The aforementioned, of course, makes for a quiet cabin that is effective in staving off noise, vibrations, and harshness.

Meanwhile, for the driver, the Territory Hybrid  Titanium X provides the following:

    • Tilt and telescopic steering column
    • Leather steering wheel
    • Dial-type gear selector
    • Drive mode selector
    • Electronic parking brake
    • 12-inch digital gauge cluster
    • Keyless entry system
    • Push-to-start button
    • 10-way power-adjust driver’s seat
    • Front seat ventilation

Handling on-board entertainment for the model is a 12-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Sound quality is ensured by the Arkamys SoundStage, while topping up devices is done easily thanks to a series of USB ports and a wireless smartphone charging pad.

    Plenty of safety gear

Another reason to drive home a Ford Territory Hybrid is its sheer amount of safety equipment. This of course, makes it a good candidate as a dedicated family car.

For its basic safety kit, the Ford crossover has ISOFIX child seat anchors, an engine immobilizer, electronic stability control, traction control, a 360-degree view camera, hill-start assist, hill descent control, front and rear parking sensors, anti-lock braking, and six airbags - among others.

The aforementioned are reinforced by a series of advanced driver assist systems (ADAS), which include:

    • Adaptive cruise control with stop and go
    • Automatic high beams
    • Forward collision warning
    • Autonomous emergency braking
    • Lane departure warning
    • Lane keeping aid

    Relatively accessible

Yet another reason to buy the Ford Territory Hybrid is its relatively accessible price. For reference, the model is available at P1.399 million for the entry-level Trend, and at P1.599 million for the top-of-the-line Titanium X.

Each purchase of the Ford Territory Hybrid also comes with an eight-year battery warranty and a five-year vehicle warranty. It is likewise compatible with the FordPass smartphone app, which allows for remote vehicle unlocking, remote vehicle start/stop, vehicle location, and remote viewing of vehicle status.

    Final thoughts

Overall, the Ford Territory Hybrid promises good value for the money. It is relatively affordable, and for the price, it offers good performance, plenty of amenities, and most importantly, it has lots of safety gear.

While all that sounds great for buyers, we encourage those who are interested in the Ford crossover to give it a test drive first. Sure, reading off specs from the internet is a good start, but having some real-world time with the car before finally deciding to buy it will make for a better experience in the end.
