What makes Mitsubishi Montero special from Toyota Fortuner?

MANILA: As we see that the top selling SUV cars in Philippines are named under Toyota. Undoubtedly, Toyota is in high demand and most lovable brand in Philippines. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi is also not too far away. It is also trying to come into lime light by offering some special magnificent features and built quality that could let the buyers think for a while and it might also change their mind if they are planning to opt Toyota SUV over Mitsubishi. So, here we will list the features that makes Mitsubishi Montero appealing and special. First of all we'll check what Toyota Fortuner has to offer. Here we go.

Mitsubishi is a brand that has recently gained much attention by coming up with top class SUV and passenger cars. The SUVs come with enhanced designs and upmarket features. Mitsubishi Montero comes under one of the best-selling SUVs in Philippines. In the first half of 2015, Montero arrived at 5th position with 6.270 with a market share of 45%.

Mitsubishi has added a lot of styling in the design language of the Montero that makes it attractive and appealing at the same time. With this, they also gave the cabin an elegant and beautiful design assuring all comfort features. The SUV is extremely spacious from inside and it is capable of accommodating seven passengers at a time. The exteriors of the SUV is appealing and modern as the body colored bumper painted with silver finished cladding makes it unique and classy.

The current model of the Mitsubishi Montero Sport a powerful 3.8L 24-valve V6 SOHC MIVEC engine that puts an incredible 250 PS at your command ensuring that you’ll never be short on power and performance. Undoubtedly, the power output has much higher than the Toyota Fortuner. The MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing Electronic Control) system optimizes the inlet valve timing and lift to optimize engine output across more of the rev range. The response rate is amazing and it yields confident cruising performance. Besides Performance, Montero can churn out 15.15 kmpl on bigger roads and 11 kmpl in city traffic.

Mitsubishi has added a number of safety features to ensure maximum safety for its passengers like dual front SRS airbags for driver and co-passenger. Additionally, it also has three points ELR seat belts at the rear, collapsible steering column, anti-intrusion brake pedals, and an electronic engine immobiliser.

Till date, Toyota Fortuner is performing at its best in the Philippines automobile market. In the first half of 2015, it has managed to grab the 2nd position with 8,744 units sold with a market share of 6.3%. Toyota Fortuner is an entry-level muscular SUV produced by Toyota Motors which is a ground-breaking product for the world. Its exterior is very appealing because of the smoke painted large head lamps and tail lamps. The front polished bumpers come with silver bezel fog lamps.

The outside rear view mirrors comes with the electrically adjustable functions that too integrated with side turn blinkers. The interior is very decent and spacious enough to accommodate seven passengers at a time. Other interior features includes AC vents, large glove box and a sunglass holder. The center console is equipped with an infotainment system, a 6.5-inch LCD screen with Bluetooth support.

Under the hood for the ongoing model lies a 3.0L D-4D 4-cylinder in-line 16 valve DOHC diesel engine equipped with intercooler turbocharger. The powerful engine is capable to churn out a maximum power output of 171 PS at 3600 rpm along with a peak torque of 343 Nm while the 2.5L trim manages to produce max. Power output of 144PS at 3400 rpm and a peak torque of 34.98 kg-m at 1600-2800 rpm.

Toyota has also given much priority to the safety features. It holds dual SRS airbags at front row for driver and passengers and ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution). Additionally, this Toyota SUV is built on GOA (Global Outstanding Assessment) body structure which ensures maximum safety in case of collision.
