2 Subaru models included in 'Car and Driver' list

MANILA: Subaru of America, Inc. has announced that two of its models are part of Car and Driver’s 2022 Editors Choice List. The all-new Subaru BRZ and the Subaru Outback are both hailed as the best in their respective classes.

Car and Driver editors tested, rated, and ranked almost 400 cars in 37 market segments to determine the winners. The results of Car and Driver’s industry-leading stringent instrumented testing, editors’ subjective evaluations of each vehicle’s performance, how well a vehicle accomplishes its intended purpose, and the ranking each vehicle receives within its market segment versus its competitors were among the criteria used to select the vehicles for the list.

In a statement, Subaru of America, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas Doll said, “We are thrilled the Outback and all-new BRZ were 2022 top picks by the editors at Car and Driver. Our mission as an automaker is to deliver vehicles that are built to the highest standards of safety, performance, and technology.”

The editors chose the BRZ among affordable sports cars for its basic sports car design, which features low vehicle weight, an ultra-low center of gravity, precision steering, and dynamic handling. The car’s 2.4-liter Subaru boxer engine that generates 228hp and 184lb-ft of torque also gained praise.

Meanwhile, the Outback stood out in the station wagon category for having the perfect mix of SUV capability with car-like ride and handling. Its 8.7-inch ground clearance is higher than many SUVs, but it still has a low step-in height for both front and rear occupants. The Outback is the ideal family and adventure vehicle, with plenty of passenger and cargo space, as well as standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. It also comes with the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology and a tablet-style 11.6-inch Subaru Starlink Multimedia system.
